very pleased to see he has another chance at afl, always thought he had ability

forgotten 1996
2005 a much sweeter memory,2012 even better
Hope he makes it at North, always seemed like a nice kid, and was just a victim of poor timing at the Swans. Had his share of injury setbacks, and then, as he was developing, so were a few others coming along quite nicely ... he ends up delisted, Pyke and Mumford end up Premiership players!
To his credit, he's gone away, obviously worked hard, and proven himself at a high level, and gets another chance
... good luck Cuzz
There have been a fair few ex-Swans of recent times who have earned themselves a second chance after spending a season or three in a second tier competition - Phillips, Faulks, Simpkin, Rowe for instance, and now Terlich and Currie. Even the likes of Wall and Brabazon were talked about as being draft possibilities in the last year or two, though they weren't actually selected.
Mind you, none has yet proven the Swans' decision to cut them to be a complete blunder. Phillips and Failks have already departed their second clubs, and Simpkin was squeezed off the Cats list this year, though has now been picked up by Hawthorn so gets a third chance.
It will be interesting to see whether Currie and Terlich have better luck, though I must admit my interest in seeing Currie develop and hopefully get a few games is tempered by the fact he's at the Kangas, I will find it hard to wish him well playing for that mob.
Peter Faulks is still with the Dockers, Liz. Still had some problems with injuries for Peel Thunder this year, but I'm not convinced at this stage. 2013 is a big year for him considering Freo's sudden shortage of backmen.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
YOU BETCHA!!!!!!
Saw very little of Currie in the 2nds although the fact that I think he co-won the 2011 Mulrooney Medal speaks for itself. Then at North Adelaide, from the very start of 2012, he just screamed out 'AFL quality ruckman'. His size, strength, conditioning, positioning, the lot. None of that magically descended on him when he arrived at Prospect, so one wonders why he even had to spend a year out of the system?apart from the fact that those AFL clubs in the market for a ruckman at the end of 2011 lazily decided, 'he's been at Sydney for years and never debuted, so he must be no good'.
For well-paid professionals, I often wonder what recruiters are thinking, or not thinking, when it comes to players who come from any background other than the 'TAC Cup/ U/18 national champs' factory.
O'course, he could still fail miserably at the Roos, but if he can stay on the park I reckon he's a pretty good bet.
