    TLM Medal Countdown - Rnds 5-6, 2013

    Today's countdown is brought to you by Untamed Snark.

    Round 5: Sydney Swans def. St Kilda Westpac Stadium Wellington
    Inaugural Simpson-Henderson Trophy

    A historic first international Home and Away game in a hard fought for 16 point win over the Saints in their brand new International fixture the Swans withstood a spirited attempt by the Saints to triumph by 16 points.
    Swans off to a slow start before a rare goal from Ted Richards brought them to the front 25 minutes in. A goal from Saints captain Nick Riewoldt briefly bring the Saints back in front before the Swans kick 7 of the next 10 goals, Goals from Parker to book end the third and fourth quarter bring the Swans to a 29 point lead and a seemingly easy finish before a goal each to Geary and Steven bring the score back to 16, a final goal to Montagna is answered by Mumford (sporting impressive facial hair) leaving the scores at 11:13 to 9:9

    ROUND 6 Sydney Swans def. Brisbane Lions SCG
    Debuts: Jed Lamb

    A beautiful sunny Sydney afternoon set the scene for an easy Swans Victory over a limp Lions who seemed to lack any urgency or even desire to get to the ball, the swans had scored 6 goals before Brisbane could even make it into their own forward 50, finishing the first quarter with 121-56 disposals and 23-10 marks setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon
    The Lions rallied in the second quarter to kick 3.2 only to be matched 3.4 by the Swans, despite the second quarter spark the Lions only managed another 1.3 in the third and 3.2 in the last being soundly beaten by the Swans 3.5 and 4.2 to win 17.13 (115) to 8.7 (55)

    Goals: Reid 3, Pyke 2, Bolton 2, Goodes 2, Jetta 2, Hannebery, O'Keefe, Parker, Kennedy, McGlynn, McVeigh Highlights: A return of form for Reid & Jetta and an increasing dominance from Pyke
