    Bob Skilton

TRIPLE Brownlow Medallist Bob Skilton turns 75 today (Thursday), but the AFL legend reckons he got his birthday wish last Monday.

That was the day he returned home - hopefully for good - following an eight-month ordeal that turned his 2013 into a year from hell.

Hope he has a wonderful birthday. Nobody should go through that. A blood infection was rare in hospitals 20 years ago but today with resistant staph etc it is more common. Good luck Bob and I wish you a speedy recovery.

What a champ! I still hold great memories from 50 years ago when I would run on to the Lakeside Oval as a 7yo to get his autograph. I would come home and show Mum his autograph with his muddy hand smudging the page. I got the same autograph every week into my autograph book and my mum could never understand why. Watching Skilts for the first time changed my life for the good. My fav colours are red & white, fav number is 14 (almost giving away my pin number!) and I developed an affinity for the 'courageous underdog'.
Get well Champ! You are a living legend!

ps By chance, if ever you read this. Do you still sing "Up the lazy river"? haha classic

Good to hear he's on the mend.
And overjoyed he stayed with the red and white.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
