Which players from other teams supported the swans as kids?

    Off-season thread.

I was just wondering whether anyone knew any current or past players that supported the swans growing up but never had the chance to play for our great team?

One that surprised me recently was Bob Davis. Basically really wanted to play for South Melbourne but the club told him to get lost apparently.

    Any others?

I also heard this too, can't remember where from.

Is there a source for this or is it just a well-known thing?

Daics mentions it whenever he is asked about his childhood. He was a keen South supporter who went to the Lakeside Oval.

and for a bit more history...I remember going to see South Melb play at the Lakeside Oval and we'd also watch the little league at half time. Our seniors wouldnt win that often but in the late 60's we always appeared to have a crash hot little league side. The men would stay in their seats to watch the little league game and go down to the bar for a beer during the 3rd qtr of seniors!! haha. There was this oversized kid that could mark and kick humungous torpedos and the crowd would cheer whenever he got the ball....the kid was a young Graham Teasdale!

There were a fair few musos and actors/directors who apparently went for south in the 60s-70s as well. Heck apart from the pies we have our very own feature film! I am sure BArry humphries was also a swans man.

Why the hell did support for South pitter away so much in the late 70s? I know of a lot of old greeks who followed South but then dropped them as soon as they headed north.
