    2003 Team and their Achievements

Watched a bit of Bulldogs v Swans game, 2003, ten years on and working within 2013 only was struck by the following

    Current AFL players

    LRT
    Adam Goodes
    Jude Bolton
    Adam Schneider (Saints)

    Played on in Local Leagues

    Paul Bevan (Perth Demons)
Rowan Warfe (Kangaroo Flats, Bendigo - I understand)
    Nick Fosdike (Captain/Coaching local league)
    Luke Ablett (VFL)

    Corporate World
    Leo Barry
    Jason Ball

    Commentators
    Andrew Schauble
    Barry Hall

Coaching and Footy Administration - wait for it.....

    Nic Davis
    Matty Nicks (Port)
    Stewart Maxfield
    Michael O'Loughlin
    Tadgh Kennelly
Benny Mathews (GCS & 2014 Melbourne)
    Darren Cresswell (junior teams)
    Craig Bolton
    Jared Crouch
    Brett Kirk (Freo)
Paul Williams (dnp that game, but doggies etc)

    Jared Sundqivst (not sure).

I rather think this may be above the average quota of ex players still in the game at this stage.

Luke Ablett played for Fitzroy in the VAFA in 2013, before giving the game away mid-season, didn't he?

Yep, probably right with it being VAFA, not VFL, he finished his degree and is now swanning around in Vanuatu (volunteer work I think - he has a healthily developed social conscience).

AAGGHH forgot to enter Ryan O'Keefe (current player)

Not sure if he is still involved, but at some point during the last couple of seasons Sundqvist was working with the Swans Academy.

He was a runner with the Swans ressies in 2013 according to his mum a month ago.

And Kangaroo FLAT (not Flats) is an outer suburb of Bendigo. Paul Williams also used to coach them once. It's also where Nathan Chapman (Collingwood's newly appointed kicking coach, former Brisbane & Hawthorn player & Greenbay Packers kicking coach) was drafted from.

A bit tangential but interesting anyway.

Here's a current list of all AFL coaches.
At the helm: Your club's coaching structure - AFL.com.au

    Ex-Swans players now coaching:
    Kirk (Freo)
    Buchanan (GWS)
    Roos, Matthews, McPHerson (Melbourne)
    J. Moore, (N. Melbourne)
    Nicks (Port)
    Playfair, Mattner, Crouch (Swans)
    Shannon Grant (Bulldogs)

Lots of Swans ex-coaches at other clubs too (Lyon, Roos, Stone, Alison, Tudor). Which makes me wonder: are there are any of our 2005 coaching staff who are no longer coaching?

NB: Longmire is the equal fourth longest-serving senior coach (ahead of Lyon and Roos in terms of their current position).

I thought he was just a stunt goalkicker...

Actually, he's not on that AFL list, or on the Swans officials list. Isn't there a rule you can't be a coach as well as a runner? I hope he doesn't get downsized with the reduction in the number of runners.

I think you're right about the rule, though how closely they police it I have no idea. Stuart Maxfield's job title never included the word coach, though I suspect he's been involved in many aspects that some would consider coaching.
