Practice Match: UWS Giants v Sydney Swans Reserves

    Saturday 15th March 2014

A fair bit of quality in this game, based on the possible lineups:

    UWS Giants

    • 11. Jed LAMB (senior emergency)
    • 13. Tom BOYD
    • 15. Tim GOLDS
    • 16. Nathan WILSON

    • 21. Matt BUNTINE
    • 22. Josh KELLY (senior emergency)
    • 24. Jono O'ROURKE
    • 25. Cameron McCARTHY
    • 27. Andrew PHILLIPS
    • 28. Liam SUMNER
    • 29. Zac WILLIAMS
    • 30. Lachie PLOWMAN
    • 31. Jacob TOWNSEND
    • 33. Will HOSKIN-ELLIOTT
    • 34. Kristian JAKSCH
    • 35. Aidan CORR
    • 36. James STEWART
    • 37. Rory LOBB
    • 38. Stephen GILHAM
    • 42. Mark WHILEY
    • 43. Jake BARRETT
    • 44. Thomas DOWNIE

    Swans Reserves

    • 1. Tim MEMBREY
    • 5. Ryan O'KEEFE (senior emergency)
    • 10. Zak JONES
    • 13. Toby NANKERVIS
    • 18. Jordan LOCKYER
    • 19. Tom DERICKX (senior emergency)
    • 22. Dean TOWERS (senior emergency)
    • 27. Daniel ROBINSON
    • 28. Matthew DICK

    • 42. Xavier RICHARDS
    • 44. Jake LLOYD
    • 45. Patrick MITCHELL

Based on my calculations, we'll have

    • 1 Norm Smith Winner
    • 3 Premiership winners
    • 1 #1 draft pick
    • 2 #2 draft picks
    • 1 #3 draft pick
    • 1 #4 draft pick
    • 1 #5 draft pick
    • a further 8 first round draft picks

Not sure if you're allowed to count the same person three times!

Looking down that list of GWS players not playing in the seniors this week, it hits home just how talented their list is.

I figured that since we clearly don't have all those high draft picks. But couldn't see a premiership player on the Giants' list. Guess it must be Gilham. I had thought he arrived post 2008 and departed pre 2013 but I am most likely wrong.

    Correct Liz.

Gilham's presence provided vital stability on the last line, helping the team to claim the 2008 AFL premiership.

Would have thought Derickx first ruck Naismith backing him up an Nanna full forward given he played there in his junior career

    But we'll wait and see

Sadly true. Collapsed in a contest and couldn't get up unaided. Fingers crossed.

Swans on Twitter have said: Alex Johnson left the field in Q1 with what looked to be an injury to his left knee. We'll post more updates when we know more.
