Round 3: Sydney Swans Reserves v Queanbeyan Tigers

    NEAFL 2014 Round 3

Sydney Swans Reserves v Queanbeyan Tigers

    Sunday 13th April 2014 9.30am
    Sydney Cricket Ground

Match being streamed Sydney Swans v Queabeyan Tigers - YouTube

The Reserves, like the Seniors, will be playing their first home game of the NEAFL season against 2012 Eastern Conference Premiers the Queanbeyan Tigers. The Tigers are in a transitory state, having lost star players Kaine Stevens (SANFL) and James Kavanagh (retired) as well as having head playing coach Kade Klemke transfer some of his duties to fellow player Josh Bryce in an interesting coaching arrangement. They were surprisingly thrashed by the new-look Sydney Uni outfit on their home ground and will be smarting from the big loss.

The Reserves meanwhile played a very competitive UWS outfit and were just pipped at the post, suffering a unfortunate 8 point defeat at Spotless Stadium last week. With 18 listed players in this week's squad, they should go into the match as clear favourites. The last time these 2 sides met in Round 9 2013, Jesse White kicked 10 goals and Tom Mitchell had 52 touches.

Craig Bird is the only listed player inclusion from last week's squad. He missed the Crows game due to injury and only played one quarter due to being on sub's duty the week before. He gets a much needed runout in the midfield. He has posted big numbers in his past few NEAFL matches and should excel alongside Lloyd, Robinson, Marsh and Perris.

*$%! they've moved it to Blacktown

Rain forces Swans reserves move to Blacktown

Number 2 Oval? So not the main stadium but I'm guessing the one next to the car park?

Edit: Not sure if they'll still be streaming it?

Here we go again.... If they are so concerned about the ground being cutup for the seniors, they should do what they did at Brisbane a few weeks ago and play the seconds AFTER the main game...

SCG Trust are @@@@ing pathetic and the Swans/AFL refusal to stand up to them is just as pathetic. @@@@s me no end...

NEAFL site says live streaming not available but they will post a full replay on their YouTube page later in the week. Unsure whether I'll go given the tight turnaround between the matches.

Why not just play the game across the road at Lakeside? Dunno why Blacktown needs to be the alternative venue????

Ugg, how much game time would all of the Senior emergencies play in the Reserves?

It's possible that an Emergency may end up playing two games in one day, if they have to come in through a late withdrawal in the seniors!

Usually they would let all 3 play in the reserves, with one pulled off at half time to be the emergency. But with this arrangement, that player would have to be present at the SCG the whole time.

So you can get a lift back with him. Problem sorted.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

I've decided not to go. Don't want to miss Bolts' farewell. If anyone is going and can provide some sort of updates let me know

Thanks for that Ugg. It's possible therefore that either Towers or Bird will see no football this weekend if either has to stay at the SCG as the on call emergency?

They will want Bird to play as he needs game time. Doesn't make much sense for a ruckman to be an emergency, especially in the rain, so Towers looks the most likely.
