    Site Issues

We haven't had any major dramas for a while.
Although my phone does buzz to the sound of txt msgs from the server during bad games and big issues.
I've been getting memory/swapping issues for a while. (No old people jokes thanks!!)
I've investigated, but it returns REAL NERD data, and I'm not that nerdy.
So I've tended to ignore them.

Usually it is a 1st notice, occassionally a 2nd notice.
Last night I got a 3rd notice, which incurred a suspension.

So after some consultation (and begging), I've been granted a reprieve, as long as I upsize the server. Just like at Maccas, but it costs more. Like double.
So we will have this temporarily, and then there are new servers which are almost the same cost as the current one, but an already upsized version.
I will move to that ASAP. The catch is I have no idea how to do that, so the Host has recommended a place that does.
It may cost a bit, I still have a bit in the kitty, so I'm going to get a quote and go ahead with the move.

It will be better in the long run.
Not sure how long all this will take, so I will try and keep you posted.

If anyone knows anything about moving servers, Rsync, etc, etc drop me a line.

PS: try not to hit the site so hard over the weekend, we don't want to kill it off again. Cheers!!!!!
PPS: it is resizing ATM so it may be a bit slow still till that is finished, usually takes about 1/2 hour or so.

Thanks Scott - let's know if you need funds.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I'm sure there are plenty of us willing to chip in a bit to cover extra costs. I certainly am. Don't be hesitant to ask.

    I'm on it!

Does the money have to go to RWO?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It's going to cost about $USD534 to move the site to the new server.
    Almost $AUD600.
I have about 1/2 that ATM.
The monthly costs have been about $AUD26.
The new server would be about $AUD30.

The set up we've been on for the last 2 days will cost roughly $AUD60 per month.

I always try to spend as little as possible to give the best service, but I think I'm going to have to baulk at the $USD600 to move and see if I can find an alternative.
I wish I knew how to do it myself. Would save a @@@@load of $$$$.

if anybody has any experience with moving Linux servers, or knows of someone reliable that can help out, please let me know.

    Decisions, decisions.
