Nank is doing well but had fitness issues he had to address when first interviewed by the Swans. Obviously he's worked on it but I don't think it is sufficient for seniors yet. I agree some changes are required but not wholesale ones. If Reid and Tip come in, two forwards would have to go out unless Reid goes in defence. Tip or Goodesy would be a good balance for Buddy. Reid might come in for LRT if they see him as a swing man. I really hope Lloyd holds his spot because he has been really good and is a favourite of mine. Gazza needs time to work through his injury issues so I think we should hold off on him for now. If Mitchell comes in, Lloyd has to stay because we lose too much leg speed. Plus where is Harry playing these days?! I don't know if he's forward or back

What does too raw mean exactly??? He is a big boy. It's not like he is a skinny kid that needs to mature into a man's body. Surely he can duplicate what derickx is producing. Bet he would take a few more marks.

If Tippett has been running, it must not be painful breathing, which means his crack in the rib is not very serious and he should be okay to play. Imagine he will be padded up like KJ.

If Tippett comes in, there is no point in having Derickx play, since Pyke will not be needed for forward line structure and can do the bulk of the ruck work. He will only have Trent West to go up against anyway.

I would play all the forwards if they are fit enough as it would be great to have a game to get them acquainted with each other before we play Hawthorn. There's no reserves game anyway to gain match fitness.

If all the forwards can play, we should drop TD and LRT. Not sure what we will do if we want to play Mitchell, because unless there is another injury concern (Macca is the prime candidate), it would seem Lloyd we be the next one out. I would like Lloyd get another game before Tommy Walsh comes off the LTIL, which will probably be after this week. Also will be difficult to pick the sub this week.

    Too dismayed to respond!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Who would backup Pyke in the ruck if both LRT and TD came out? Surely they wouldn't want to throw Tippett into the middle coming off sore ribs and little match conditioning, even if just for 5 minutes a quarter?

    I think they would drop
Laidler and then play LRT as a defender. Not sure who makes way for Mitchell as I have likes what I've seen of Lloyd too. They needed to use him more on the weekend.

It doesn't matter who plays backup ruck. Anyone who can cause a modicum of distraction is enough. Whatever we lose by not having a 20 minute ruckman who specialises in hitouts to disadvantage will be made up by having another 'player' running around. The way I look at it, I would rather have Tom Mitchell instead of TD because I think the benefits offset whatever TD can give us.

Teams have learned to play against Sandilands, knowing they will lose nearly all the taps. Nonetheless, when you plan for it you can still win the clearances and find solutions to offset a size disadvantage in the ruck. It's something we need to learn, because we are not a strong rucking team without Mummy. But it doesn't mean that we can be a good stoppage team; just need to organise things differently, and use the extra 'runner' that playing 1 ruckman offers.

This is more or less Leigh Mathews' take on the ruck situation. It's a bit controversial, but I am in his camp on this one.

The guy thought it would be a massive step up for Toby N, to go from rucking in the NAFL to the AFL. By raw be probably meant experience as Toby is only 19!

I'd give Ben McGlynn a run as ruck - that's basically the same as playing a normal ruckman against Sandilands.

Don't want them all in the F50. I want Buddy and Reid leading up to the wings, dragging defenders out of the F50, and leaving KT in one-on-ones?ideally against the number 2 or 3 defender (!)?closer to the goal square. Number 37, as far as I'm concerned, can do whatever he wants, although I do like it when he sets himself up behind stoppages in the attacking half of the ground, rather than working as a forward target. And we need to go one on one when the opposition tries to set up the loose behind the ball to make sure there is space for Tippett to lead to. Can't wait.

Reid, AG and Buddy can all play like midfielders, so being tall is not a problem, but rather an asset. What's great about having Tippett is that we can still have a monster target up forward while forcing their other key defenders to areas that they would feel less comfortable by having to cover the other 3.

In theory, it should work. In practice .......................
