Cheer cheer for LRT and ROK. Both legends of our club.

I definitely want to be there when they do their lap of honour after retiring.

I know however, if either get the call, they'll show just why they have been such stars (in very different ways for us) one last time. I would of loved to see ROK hit 300 games, but father time catches up with all (as I think it is with Goodesy - although he is still showing moments of his customary brilliance).
Yes it's looking like we will see a changing of the guard at he end of the year. Likely departures to be ROK, LRT and Goodsey. Lockyer and Walsh might be in danger of losing their positions, that makes five + departures. That will leave some space for a couple of rookie elevations.

with Rampe and Laidler really settling in last year and this year you could argue the Swans maybe reluctant to let Shaw play on in 2015 and 33yrs of age........especially with Macca being able to play on the HBF and or Rohan being groomed on the HBF and Zak Jones looking likely and Harry Cunningham able to play that role also

That frees up $1.85 mill pa approx for season 2015 !

    ROK - $400k pa
    LRT - $300k pa ?
    SHAW - $350k pa ?
    GOODES - $600k pa ?
    WALSH - $200k pa ?

That assumes that we haven't already budgeted that into not only Buddy and Tippo's contracts, but the extensions given to our current players recently.

    30. Towers?? they may keep Dean if Rohan becomes a true HBF and Membrey stays otherwise Goodes may stay for one more year on peanuts ??
    31. Marsh - still has alot of upside for midfield and can play HBF as well as any emerging players on the list plus we need the depth midfield for 2015
    32. Hewitt
    33. X
    34. AJ
    35. Heeney - Draft
    36. Draft
    37. Draft
    38. Draft??

    Rookie

    39. P.Mitchell
    40. A.Davis - Rookie Draft as I dont believe he will go in the draft due to some serious KPPs ahead of him
    41. Robinson - only turning 20 this July so another year on the Rookie list could work still
    42. Perris
    43. J.Steele ?
    44. another project player for backline?

I think that Shaw has another year in him but they might be hesitant to extend his contract given that Teddy, Malcho and Reg are coming to the ends of their careers. It would be too unsettling for the four of them to leave in the space of a couple of years.

it could be a little unsettling but it has been a strong succession with Macca and Jack Captains
Harry, BJ and Lloyd given game time and looking likely contenders for the 22 in the future
ROK and LRT have not featured much
Goodes missing 8 games or so this season along with Tippett injured alot in 2014
Shaw though being very dominant this season after his first few games
McGlynn becoming a heart and soul player in 2014 and setting the tone in pre season for all to follow

There is still a tonne of leadership in the middle and either end of the field

not forgetting we have had some very significant leaders/characters leave the Swans over the last 5 years or so and we have continued to move forward in our stride but fair point 4 significant players in one season could hurt

    Jolly
    Davis
    O'Loughlin
    Crouch
    Hall
    Bradshaw
    Kirk
    Kennelly
    C.Bolton
    Jude
    Mattner
    Mumford

probably not permitted to add White or Barlow to the above list of 12 players

    You inexcusably missed Ben Mathews.

NEAFL Wrap - Practice Match v UWS

great to see Rohan off the HBF and the last few seconds show Swampy Marsh flying off HBF, running 60m and then letting fly one of his excellent kicks on the run for a 50m goal

No reason why Marsh and Rohan could take over from Shaw and Mal in years to come on the HBF

In fact if Rohan puts his mind to it he could knock Laidler right out of the 22 for a back spot and counter like TK !!!

Who is now (assistant) coaching at Melbourne.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
