Nasty incident at Pennant Hills when a Manly player decided to crash a Penno player head first into the steel boundary fence at full speed. A cowardly and dangerous thing to do.
Luckily no damage done, though an ugly melee followed in a game that was otherwise played in good competitive spirit.

The Manly player - not sure who he was - was last seen being carried off draped over the shoulders of two trainers after a subsequent tackle. Interesting to note that his teammates didn't exactly rush to remonstrate on his behalf afterwards.

    Glad to hear it.

The students loss today really opens up the fight for 5th. Giants win probably wraps up minor premiership for them barring a few shock losses. Big game for us next week. Win and 3rd is within our grasp if everything for the rest of the season goes as predicted.

JB I am disappointed you would think it a good thing that any player is carried off injured. Not sure the steel fence incident was much more than a bump, aggravated by the very small distance between fence and boundary; but players worked that out. I thought the behavior of the crowd celebrating the injury was appalling and far from the Pennant Hills usual standard of behaviour; it was reminiscent of the Collingwood cheer squad all spite and no balance or generosity for the competitors.

Save that observation it seemed to me to a hard fought contest between two solid teams that are finals bound.

Couldn't agree more OC, everything you said was spot on. There was absolutely nothing in that incident with the fence & I've seen plenty of people plough into that fence over the years...It's way to close to the playing surface. I'm not sure who the Manly player was either but I saw him off the ground & his face was badly rearranged but the tough little bugger wanted to go back on!!! The way the local crowd & players carried on after that incident was nothing short of disgraceful. A pre-emtive high shot with the result of an undoubtedly badly broken nose & or cheek bone has no place in our game any more. The Penno player was celebrated for taking the Manly player's head off. In short it was sickening & disgusting.

I lost a case of Crownies to a mate of mine because he backed Manly so for interests sake I took Penno but after that incident I stopped cheering for Penno. It was a bloody good game of football between the two best sides in the comp. St.George must have played well to knock off the Giants last week, good on them. But I cant see anyone bar these 2 sides playing off in the big dance.

This week's RWO Wrap of the weekend action is now online.

Sorry, no pics this week due to technical probs (ie my inability to be in two places at once)...
