It's rational to be philosophical about Saturday's performance - try and move on, but we did lose something that will be difficult to get back. Respect. Affection from neutrals. Certainly awe. This Patrick Smith piece is harsh, but there are large painful dollops of truth to it.
We've been absolutely smashed in the ultimate game of the last two seasons. There were excuses for last year, and Longmire and the players did refer to those excuses in the finals series, in comparing why they felt better this year than last. No excuses at all this year, and I'd be very pleased not to ever hear any.
The only way the Swans can overcome that loss of respect is to win the premiership, preferably next year, preferably against Hawthorn, preferably after beating Hawthorn in both home-and-away games next year. The make-up of the team should be determined by which players are willing/able to do that.
Once vaunted Bloods culture is nothing but a myth
HALF-TIME and you are numb. @@@@@ your finger with a pin. @Nothing. Not even blood.
Thats gone, too. What had been planned, what had been so minutely plotted now makes no sense. Even in a game so random as AFL football. It is like you have turned up at the wrong ground at the wrong time.
