That man Malceski always seems to put himself in the right position. Taking a simple chest mark about 40 out from goal straight in front after a quick kick
out of defense by the Bulldogs. It was just the beginning. 6 Swans goals before the Bulldogs got their first major set the tone for the game.
Tippett and Franklin were proving to be too much of a handful for the Bulldogs.

Richmond 10.8 (68) def. Sydney Swans 9.11 (65)
This was a �must win� match for Richmond to gain a finals berth while for the Swans, with a top two position guaranteed, the main objective was to have a good hit-out but protect key players . Consequently the Swans left out Franklin, Kennedy, Bird and McGlynn who were carrying injuries, plus Pyke who was ill. They were replaced by Towers, Mitchell, Biggs, Jones, and ruckman Sam Naismith making his senior debut.
Richmond was on fire from the opening bounce in the first quarter, kicking 5.3 before the Swans registered on the scoreboard. The Tigers were showing far more determination and preparedness to get the hard ball with Jack Riewoldt finishing off with three goals in the opening 16 minutes.
John Longmire then moved Dane Rampe on to Riewoldt and Sam Reid into the backline, which shored up the Swans defence and shifted the momentum of the game. With the Swans starting to win the ball through the midfield, they cut Richmond�s lead to 13 points at the half-time interval. The Swans then hit the front momentarily late in the third term following a goal by Adam Goodes, but the Tigers quickly responded and went to the three-quarter time break leading by five points. In a fiercely fought final quarter, the Swans again hit the front only for the Tigers to respond and seal a close win through Dustin Martin as he raced away from a slipping Ted Richards to kick the deciding goal.
The game was the 100-game milestone for Lewis Jetta, and marked an emotional farewell to two-time Swans premiership player Ryan O'Keefe who walked a lap of honour at the main break with his children Levi and Savannah.
