    Not really. Surplus cash allows us to invest in the future. Headline profit is an accounting construct only - you have to look beyond to understand what is really going on.

    Exactly Liz. Profit is an accounting definition. Too many people confuse profit with money in the bank. That is not the case. Many examples of businesses going broke after recording profits

    That would be confusing profit with cash flow, Doc.

    "Cash flow" - isn't that an evocative phrase? I soothe myself to sleep at night murmuring "cash flow" as I drift off.
