Post RWO: changing of the guard

    Hi folks

It's with very mixed feelings that I advise you all that custodianship of redandwhiteonline has now officially passed from Scott to myself.

Before going any further, I'd like to thank Scott immensely for eight years of hard work and dedication keeping this community together. Anything of this nature is a labor of love. You get nothing for it other than what you put in, and that same principle applies to both admins and users. In working with Scott on the handover for this site, I can fully appreciate his investment over the years and will carry this legacy forward with the utmost of respect.

A bit about me. I'm a Sydney-based member who sits with a group of nine friends in the Victor Trumper stand (bay 315). I'm 39 years old and live in the inner west. I believe I'm way more funny than half the people I know think I am, but think I'm nowhere near as funny as the other half of the people I know believe I am, twice the time.

To the mods - Liz, Ugg, Matt79, Rogueswan and Norris (over on the NSW/ACT forum), thank you! It's a daily job keeping things in order on here and I'm really glad you'll be staying on.

I joined this forum in 2006, just before Des passed the ball onto Scott, and have seen a number of people come and go. It's great to see the new faces who have joined in the past twelve months, some of whom are already well settled in and regularly contributing. For those who have left us, I hope to welcome you back some day.

This site will be business as usual over the coming season. We have enough money in the kitty for a few more months and I'll be funding RWO for the rest of the season. Nothing much will change. In the coming months though, I'll be seeking your view on the future of RWO - areas such as look and feel, site features, forum structure, management and so on. A blank canvas question - assume everything is on the table and is affordable. I'll also be asking you all whether you want to become more involved in specific areas that we identify as part of this process.

My plan is simple - make sure RWO is the best experience it can be within our resources and substantially grow the number of active users.

But please save your views on this for a different thread later.

Finally, I want to assure you that RWO is owned by all of us - this means you all have a say on where it goes. I also have no plans on 'commercialising' RWO nor allowing it to fade into the ether. If I have any trouble managing it, I'll come back to you and we'll seek a new arrangement before I let it go. But it won't come to that!

Above all, be kind to each other and treat any visitor to this site with respect and courtesy. I think we all deserve that at least.

    Thanks all

    Dan

Danzar: I've always wondered if there was a god. And now I know. There is, and it's me.
    Matt79: You're not a god, Danzar.
Liz: Remember, Dan, all glory is fleeting.
    Danzar: So?
Liz: Beware the Ides of March.
    Danzar: No.
Liz: Dan, I know you think you're happy now, but it's not gonna last forever.
    Danzar: Everything lasts forever.
Liz: Don't you see? Getting what you want all time will ultimately leave you unfulfilled and joyless.
    Danzar: Remove the girl.
Liz: Dan, you're not with your Maguires now, there are no lackeys to carry out your...........

    LOL, RS.

Reminds me of the time Frog and I were meeting up with some people near the Cheer Squad area, and one of member of the RWO community freaked out when he found who I was, and bleated out 'Oh God!!'. Frog with his quick retorted. "No, but he thinks he is".

It was funny at the time.

    Well done Dan.
Good luck with your rule of terror.

PS: Hurry up and fix the WIKI!!!!!!!!

    Too funny.

Um, aren't you doing the wiki Scott?

RS: you really must explain some of your post to me. It clearly contains some familiar statements as well as some unknown touches of genius.

Substitute Homer for Danzar, Marge for Matt79 and, well, I think Liz is self explanatory.
