    Sam Reid

This is his 4th full season and from small glimpses last night it seems we will see much of the same from him. One or two good passages of play, a whole heap of easy chest marks dropped, an attempt at speccy here and there that will spill and the oppostion will rebound and then in the 3rd qtr off with a leg injury for 3-4 games.

Is this the best we will get out of Reid? TBH he needs to have a massive breakout year, he needs to dominate games for at least 3 and half qrts this year. 2-5 mins worth is not enough in a game that goes for 120 minutes.

Just plonk him at CHB and leave him there. Maybe he needs to focus on playing in one KP for his talent to shine.

But at this stage he is not worth the coin he is on.

He got injured early. The ball was dewy, not ideal for marking targets. Lions more used to those humid conditions than the Swannies.

Until he gets past 24 we won't see his best football, he may never be a superstar, but he does his job and will get better

In his defence, I was there last night and it was pretty slippery conditions. Lists of marks spilt by both sides. He looks like a man now, previous years he has still looked a bit awkward. I really hope he gets it right this year because it's these sorts of players that can win you a flag as you know what to expect from the elites.

One other thing, Heeney is a unit.

The interview with Heeney on the Swans site is just great. Firstly he comes across as very mature for a teenager. And secondly his excitement about playing with the seniors is both palpable and infectious. Lot to like and look forward to with this player I think.

Clich but this needs to be his year. If not he will end up somewhere else at the end of this contract. The swans cannot justify another massive contract for him the way he is going and would be tough for a player like him going from wunderkind with a massive contract to one which is way way lower.

Will end up at GWS with his injury prone brother.

Jesse was an athlete in a footballers body ... his massive frame that can bust packs which can run with pace & endurance ... but above the shoulders didn't always read the play or have the drive of an AFL footballer. A genuine footballers brain is hard to teach.

Sammy is a footballer with an athlete's body ... reads the play with a footballers instinct but is still althetic, versatile in the air (& given his size, ok when the ball hits the deck). It's probably easier to continue to develop footy skills & confidence than to develop footy smarts.

For me, I don't think Sammy is Jesse Mk2

    Is that all?

Thats pretty poor for someone on a lot of coin and who has had 4 whole years and every chance to prove his worth.

And my jess white comment was in relation to expectations, not as similar players.
