Can someone jog my memory. Which club withdrew a team that wasn't its lowest div team?

Campbelltown pulled their seniors on the eve of the season.
Also UNSW-ES & UTS pulled out of Div 2 during the pre-season, but well ahead of the season starting.

So has anyone received an explanation why UTS didn't drop their 5th division team? A major loss of talent is the usual response. A quick look at results at this point of the season has UTS 3rd div with 10W/0L and 5th div 7W/1L. Am I the only pessimistic soul who sees this as a grab for lower division silverware? It's just another flaw in the divisionalisation rationale.

UTS claimed they would struggle in div 3 due to the numbers who had left the club. UTS now are top of the table in div 3 and 5 and if things continue the AFL will have egg on their face for believing the bulls..t told to them.

UTS have had 62 transfers in which is the most of any club in Sydney with only 26 transfers out. the next closest re transfers in is Sydney Uni with 58 ins but also with 54 outs. Camden for example had 39 ins and 11 outs.

Please note figures were worked out quickly so may be slightly (only slighty) out and have been adjusted for under 19's (not included) and rep footy and NEAFL transfers.

So UTS have a net player movement on paper of 36 in and drop a team whilst Camden have 28 ins and add one. Id have to agree with Coastal Boy and say on paper it does appear UTS are chasing lower div silverware.

    I don't get it !!

Last year , 2014, the UTS "D" grade won the Div 4 premiership ,
This year 2015 the UTS "D" grade are winning every game by 20 goals or more in Div 5 !!!
Can anyone explain how this has come about?

Don't know, can only speculate. But UNSW-ES had already pulled their Div 2 team (and considering they're on the bottom of Div 1 & Div 3 at the moment, that was probably the right team to pull); so UTS when they realised they didn't have the numbers and had to pull a team, may have been allowed to cut that one to eliminate the bye.

That's not quite how I read it Norris .
UNSW div 2 was relegated to div 3 as they finished last and rightly playing in D 3 . They did withdraw their Div 4 team which struggled last year and they had a couple of forfeits so understandable and fair enough,
The UTS changes however are totally different .
Their Div 4 team won the premiership and were promoted to Div 3 ..
UTS actually were allowed to withdraw their C grade team even though they were not in relegation zone.(last place)
Effectively cascading these players to lower grades and as a result we see them dominating lower grades again .
An earlier post showed UTS actually grew in numbers again this year through the clearance board ,

It just doesn't look right .

No Norris they pleaded with the league to be allowed to drop as they said due to numbers they would struggle. Fact is they have had more inward transfers in than any other club and little the other way. I know from an opposition club they were observed playing a scratch match against another club with over 30 players there to get a game.

Pathetic effort by UTS. When and if they win they should be stripped of their silverwater for effectively tanking.
