    Nick Fosdike

Article in the Age listing all pick #3 from the 1980.

I didn't realise that Nick Fosdike was that high a draft pick, although a very good player.
    He was drafted in 1998.

Shannon Grant was also pick #3.

I always had a soft spot for Fosdyke.

Didn't he play his last game (SCG vs Cats?) after a long break due to injury during which time he'd acquired a Spida-like tattoo on the uppper arm/shoulder which looked totally out of character given his clean-cut image?

He should have retired as a Norm Smith medallist.

Little known item of interest that Nic's grandfather, Bob, was almost a South Melbourne player. South tried to recruit him from the Norwood in SANFL - I think he worked in a bank in SA. But I think the bank refused to clear his work transfer to Victoria.

    Absolutely.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Agreed, he had a great game.

It amazes me they pick the Norm Smith before the game is finished...Have they changed this ridiculousness yet?

I also thought Hanners was stiff not to win it in 2012.

Had a great game, but Buchanan was BOG for mine. His last quarter was as influential as another celebrated last quarter a fortnight earlier...
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

Great player, not a standout but innocuous and consistent. He also wore my grandfathers no.12 guernsey BTW.
