Maybe I saw him on an off day but from what I saw there is no way you could reward him on that.

It really does highlight how critically exposed we are in the KPD area, especially when we can't call on Mr Versatility Reid. If Laidler is also out then we'd definitely bring in Jones and probably Towers. Rampe would take the second tall and we'd probably bring McVeigh down back for some experience.

I'd be hoping very much we have him back for the Tigers but it gives Rampe an opportunity to show his wares in a more senior position and he's been a real unsung hero for us this year in my book

Not the craziest idea I've heard....
Thanks for the insights Mug. It's hard to pick up position sense from video.

Re the potential replacement, people seem to forget our up and coming quiet achiever who is both versatile and KPD size, Abe Davis, who was one of our best in the ressies. Must be a chance.

Did X play defense for his senior game(s) last year ?

Yes I remember him playing in defense in the Eagles game in Perth. I think both Ted and Grundy were missing from that game. He started off shaky but then was ok.

With regards to Ted's injury I remember during the game the commentators mention that Kennedy had injured Ted after earlier knocking out Laidler. Then at half time I remember seeing the doctor in the rooms checking out Ted's eye and cheek bone. It's a shame he is injured now that he has found form and confidence.

Sounds like Gary Rohan might get a run this week.

Great news about Rohan. I expect that he will play in the NEAFL before a call up to the firsts.

I would just play Xav Richards until Ted comes back in the side.

Even if its 2 to 3 weeks - if it is 3 weeks - at the end of 3 weeks - a clearer view of Xav Richards can be made.

To get a realistic appraisal of the Brisbane side we'll be facing, Tom Cutler, Josh Green and Ryan Bastinac will all miss due to injury. Allen Christensen will have a concussion test. Dayne Beams is still not available. It's not taking Brisbane lightly, only that a weak side will be even weaker when they play us. The point being that we needn't worry too much about changes this week as far as victory is concerned. This year's Swans haven't really played a poor quarter; a very different story from last year. Thanks to the youngsters, who are out to impress and hold their spots, this year's team does not show any signs of becoming complacent. Maybe it's Kirk's influence, as some have suggested.

Bringing in inexperienced players, or even playing Rohan without a NEAFL game, doesn't risk much.

I'm not bothered if we play XR or Aliir, but at least one should be given a go this week.

Sam Reid remains on 2 weeks. At this rate Michael Talia will be back before Reid. No mention of Dawson, who missed the past 2 ressies' games; must be a groin complaint, they never seem to list those.

Interesting to note that all 6 players on our injury list are either defenders or ones that play either forward or defence.

Id go as far to say that if grundy qent down with an ijury early in the game, brisbane would beat us. Our weakness is defense and its even weaker now.
Danger game. Its at the gabba and they beat the suns who i rate

If this injury was to actually occur our team is still flexible enough to cover his loss. The ball needs to get down to our backline for a start and our midfield would hold the fort and starve the opposition of possession. Failing that I would be confident that we have more than enough scoring power to still outscore Brisbane comfortably. I rate Grundy but his absence shouldn't impact on the Swans performance against teams in the bottom half of the ladder.

I thought Abe was mainly playing up forward, at least he seemed to on Saturday.

At the risk of sounding like a Ressies basher I thought he looked a but "heavy", perhaps even carrying a bit of extra padding, certainly not the physique of a senior AFL footballer

I don't know about that but I do agree the Lions are not to be taken lightly. And we are certainly very vulnerable at the back if Red goes down but then again most clubs would struggle if they had their top three KPDs out I guess.

It will be interesting to see how we address the KPD issue at season end if Ted does retire as I think he will. Reid could well be placed permanently down back and I wouldn't also be surprised to see us trade our first round draft pick next year for an up and coming backman much like what we did to get Ted in the first place.
