9.30am seems like a very early start for a game of AFL one level down from the senior AFL competition.
Is the game played so early to allow the emergencies who played reserves to be available at the Gabba on time?

Pretty handy lead for a side playing with only 21, and possibly only 20 if Veale's one tackle and no disposal is an indication of an injury
Brisbane no score in the second quarter and 4 points only in the third.
Two goalless quarters (and one of those scoreless) for the Lions is a bit of a worry for them (encouraging for us).
They seem to get flogged every week.

Hiscox and Nakervis both played and with Zak replacing Smooch it looks like we have no emergencies fresh for the main game.

Brisbane 1 behind in the 4th quarter and only 5 behinds for the last 3 quarters. Very one sided after quarter time.
I arrived halfway through the first quarter in time to see Brisbane kick three consecutive goals - their only majors for the game! Light rain without let up throughout made it very difficult with the ball being very slippery and lots of scrimmages.
BJ got a lot of the ball but wasted it a lot. Towers did some nice things. Rohan looked to be playing half back and went nicely for a first hit out. Naismith for a very big man in wet conditions showed some good skills and good pace, be interested to hear from regular ressie watchers if he shows those in other games. O'Riordan looked right at home in the conditions, much like an Irish summer's day, and looks an impressive unit with neat foot disposal, we look to have a player there.
Then to the Gabba for the heartstopper, we have work to do after that display.
