I'm curious, what do people think? When was the decision to withdraw Smooch made and would the same decision have been taken against different opposition? What's the chance it was decided by the match committee a day or more ago?
According to defensive coach Henry Playfair, Smith didn't pull up well this morning following training yesterday. Jones who had been training for the NEAFL all week had to re-adjust his preparations.
The stretcher thing was poor and probably cost brisbane its chance. While it was 5050, brisbane forward line was open so if they did win the ball they would have scored.
I doubt it was a dislocated knee cap, unless it went back in by itself, in which case that must put his whole carear in jepody. Those things only get worse and more frequent.
i thought macca had the ball and player covered down in our 50m and only 1m from the side line
"be tough, only when it gets tough"
Brisbane player had ball carowled and just as whistle blew another brisbane player ran past.
We will loose or moral high ground if we try to argue the stretcher wasnt poor form. Saying that it did look like hed done a knee. Maybe poor form by umps to stop play though.
Sometimes you just need the four points and we got that today against a team that I thought played pretty well.
Aliir Aliir looked OK and certainly not totally out of his depth and I can see him becoming a rebounding half back flanker. Buddy was the difference in my books as well as Parker, JOK and Hanners showing their class.
If the Lions play like that every week until the end of the season they'll have more than a few wins on their ledger.
Storm in an egg cup. Guy goes down when his knee packs in, is in obvious distress. Looking after his health has to be the priority of the Swans medical staff, not the game situation. Similarly the umpires can't let play go on if they think. A stretcher is required. In either case think of how bad the headlines would be in the bad case scenario if the professionals involved hadn't done the right thing.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.
The Lions were great. They will win games this year with that effort. We take the four points.
Laidler was brilliant and Rampe won some key one on one battles. AA was solid and has all the athletic tools to be an effective player.
I liked Robinson's game and the tenacious way he hits the contest.
I don't know how long Papley has with his run in the seniors. As a small forward, I don't think he is efficient enough. Although he won the rising star last week, he wasted a lot of possessions. He needs to become more efficient like a Zorko. If Zorko had as many touches as Papley did last week, he would have kicked 6 goals. He was not clean today and needs to be impacting the scoreboard more.
