Maybe my expectations have been clouded by Issac last year, but I think Mills has been solid rather than spectacular. He's been consistent but I would have guys like Weitering and Petracca in front of him for pure impact on the game.

As I said, I think we've really been spoilt by Issac

Jacobs from giants would have to be a chance .... if he played in Victoria.
Papley and Hopper have already been nominated.

Right now, I'd say he is the best first year player in the AFL. Mightn't win the RS though, too boringly good I guess.
I agree with this, Mills has been amazing how he has settled into senior footy.

He is playing beyond his years, doing his role like an old pro.

He might have a breakout game and get a nomination but I couldn't care less if he does or doesn't.

Weitering IMO is in a different class though just in terms of this award, first year kid in a critical KPD role and part of a resurgent side. He deserves to be favourite and anyone who suggest otherwise is just being churlish

...or should watch his work in the win over Geelong last week. He was sensational.

As has Byrne-Jones from Port Adelaide. Interestingly, Melbourne have same number of nominees as all non-Victorian clubs combined (Clayton Oliver, Darcy Parish and Christian Petracca)

Melbourne has had a 3rd nominee - Harmes.

It's not that surprising that teams down the bottom for extended periods will get more nominees. They tend to be chock-a-block with high draft picks and also give kids key roles in the team at an earlier stage in their careers. If Mills were at Essendon or Melbourne he'd probably be playing on ball and regularly racking up 25 possessions a week.

RS nominations are nice for players and teams to receive but they're hardly the be-all and end all. Parker wasn't even nominated...
