    Ted Richards

According to Andrew Wu, Ted will hold a press conference at 1030 today: Andrew Wu on Twitter: ".@tedrichards25 holding 1030 press conference. I'm guessing it won't be for a 6-year contract extension".

Out of contract this year, replaced by
Allir - retirement had seemed probable.

    Wow!
If it is for retirement I am guessing it is the head knocks (or some other injury) because I believe he could still hold his own down back, and his strong leadership would be invaluable, if we needed to play him.
Sad day if it is retirement.

I assume it's a retirement announcement, I'd be saddened if it was effective immediately.

Side note: it's been a while since I've complained about Andrew's stern face for his Fairfax mugshot- but he has a lovely smile there for his twitter picture!

Must be serious. Even he wasnt in the starting 22, a few injuries would see him pop up again if he was fit.

Good point, maybe it will an "end of this season" retirement to allow for the fairy tale GF like Jason "Cannon" Ball.

He's been named for the NEAFL so I don't think it's immediate.

Hope it's not immediate. Still looking at a GF this year and if in good form could have another premiership medal

It's pretty normal for players to start announcing this time of year that they will retire at the end of the year. Can't see why it would be immediate. If anything were to happen to Reg between now and the start of October, Ted would be back into the senior team in a flash.

He'd probably still be in the side if he hadn't been knocked out. Still a very good chance to play again.

Oh, completely agree it's about the time that guys might announce an end of season retirement and that's more than likely what it is, I was purely thinking if it's because of head knocks I wouldn't be completely surprised if it was immediate.
