I'm not sure if the likes of Bolt, Newman, Warne, Jones and Panahi have seen the documentary but Gerard Whately & Andy Maher who were fence sitters during the saga are now vehemently of the opinion that the attacks on Goodes was racially motivated after seeing the documentary. They both are refusing to discuss the topic with their callers until the documentary has been shown on Ch 10 later this year, describing any callers arguments at Goodes as being 3 years out of date, such is the revealing nature of the documentary which left them both in no doubt.

When Alan Jones refuses to allow any footage of him in the Goodes film, you know it's all about public perception and not reality.
It's sad that we have these people but they are just rabble rousers. All flair, no substance.

Newman has made a living out of being an Aussie bogan in the worst sense. Treatment of Goodes and Winmar racist, Caroline Wilson sexist, people with a disability on "Street Talk" cringe worthy. He is a magnet for the worst in Australians - just because Sam says it, they believe it is OK to go with it. You can throw Shane Warne into the same conversation. After being attention seekers on the sports field they suffer from severe attention deficit when they retire. To them it is better to be regarded as an intellectual pigmy than to not be regarded at all.

He is known for his slapstick comedy and sending people up, including himself, but that's why people love him. Do you think any of those who appeared on Street Talk didnt know what they were doing or regretted their decision? No, they loved the attention and saw it as an opportunity to brag to their mates.

He wasn't racist towards Goodes. What he did with Winmar was stupid, but not racist 15 years ago.

He isn't an intellectual pigmy. Infact he is an extremely intelligent man who doesn't care about hurting the feelings of haters; again, another reason why people love him. He is perfectly entitled to him opinion without this "documentary" putting their own political slant on things to make him look bad and to help their ratings.

Can't stand McGuire but he is not in same boat as the others even if he is nauseatingly "mates"with them.

I think the only difference is that McGuire engages in the pretence that he does not subscribe to the views espoused by the others (obviously some not at all considering the divide in the political spectrum) or that they were just gaffes, but when you list all the obnoxious things that he has been a part of it is hard not to look at him in a similarly negative light:

- He mocked someone for their supposed inability to toss a coin prior to an AFL game.
- He did nothing as the on-air host of The Footy Show (and when present in production meetings) when Sam Newman dressed up in black face because Nicky Winmar refused to go on their show.
- He did nothing as the on-air host of The Footy Show (and present in production meetings) when Sam Newman referred to people from New Guinea as monkeys
- He did nothing as the on-air host of The Footy Show (and present in production meetings) when Sam Newman brought out a blow-up doll in mockery of Caroline Wilson
- He used homophobic language to mock participates in the Winter Olympics.
- He jokingly said that Adam Goodes should be brought to Melbourne to help promote 'King Kong' in the week after he was called an ape at a Collingwood game.
- He suggested that Western Sydney was the land of the falafel.
- He jokingly suggested that Caroline Wilson be held underwater if involved in the MND charity event.
- He suggested that Goodes on-field war dance was aggressive and should never be seen again.

And, just like all the others, he also has a platform for saying whatever he likes (or unnecessarily promoting his own agenda) without suffering any real consequences.

Making fun of people with a disability, as he did on Street Talk a number of times, is not my idea of clever.

You're especially right about his silent endorsement of the footy Show nonsense and I have no time for the guy. Just don't think he is as obnoxious as the others in the group you mentioned.

I am not sure what you are trying to convey with the words "..but not racist 15 years ago"? It is a bit like saying that the White Australia Policy or parts of the Australian Constitution (notably sections 25 and 51(xxvi)) are not racist because there were derived from a time in the past. Racism is racism, whether acted upon in 2019, 2004 or 1900.

There are also degrees of racism. Sam Newman is in my opinion at the higher range of being a racist by virtue of his comments and conduct on television

I am not sure what you are trying to convey with the words "..but not racist 15 years ago"? It is a bit like saying that the White Australia Policy or parts of the Australian Constitution (notably sections 25 and 51(xxvi)) are not racist because there were derived from a time in the past. Racism is racism, whether acted upon in 2019, 2004 or 1900.

And you're entitled to your opinion just as those are who have a different opinion. People need to understand what the definition a racist is. Does Sam show prejudice, discrimination towards those of a different race based on the belief that his own race is superior (Oxford Dictionary)? I don't think he does and none of you are in a position to confirm that he does. You confusing lack of empathy with racism.

Yes, Sam is intelligent.....which makes what he says basically racist....and he knows it. The insult is that he thinks others will follow his opinion because of his 'intelligence'.....but in the end, only the stupid or like minded follow him.
