Thread: Sammy Reid !!!

    Sammy Reid !!!

Harley: Tippett part of our plans - sydneyswans.com.au

Sam Reid straight back to CHF 2017 !!!!

Why is that when I look on this forum I see great division on Sam Reid's value to the swans Snr team yet Harley Longmire etc always speak of him as an automatic inclusion in our best 22

    ????

What do astute coaches and managers see that half this forum does not ?

Half this forum are not of AFL coaching standard!

Never understood the negative sentiment about Reid. I know he has been inconsistent but when he is on he is very good. I think his best is ahead of him, as do the coaching staff who lets face it might have a better idea about players than us.

He is exceptional in the air and one of the great things he offers is an "out", particularly for a long kick up the line from defence. No one else in the team can do this as they lack his aerial strength and/or his mobility to get to the contest.

Coaches look at players and know what roles they are given to play, and judge them by whether they have performed that role.
"We" look at players and wonder why they aren't kicking enough goals, getting enough kicks, making enough tackles, etc without knowing what their role is.

    "We" usually have NFI!!!

Imagine having Reid as a marking target in the GF when we repeatedly bombed long on to the heads of guys like McGlynn and Papley!

I have time for Sam Reid. I kind of forget how he was with defensive pressure, how much did he play last year? It kind of feels like we haven't seen him for 2 full years now.

Of course we all have NFI. This is why this place exists.
Reid to CHB? Nup. Big mistake. Huge. Hope I'm wrong.

If coaches and managers were so clever how come Tippo has not been found out?

Tippo's season was done when he did his hamstring. He's an absolute gun when he has continuity. He's just one of those players who needs the perfect preparation to show his best.
