Happy with that team though thought they'd roll the dice with Aliir, shows the regard they hold Laidler in though, a real pro.

Foote's debut was last year but happy to see him a chance so early in 2017

Although there was only 1 surprise selection for me, that being Laidler, it's not clear what the reasoning was. Clearly, the selectors are not worried about the high ball coming in to tall forwards. Perhaps it's the wet conditions. Or maybe there would be to much lack of experience if we went with Melican at this stage. He had a very good JLT series, but didn't finish off the last game well. Talia seems to have dropped off the radar.

We really do have a young list, so choosing a side is having to pick from a menu of players with little or no AFL experience.

It's the same backline as the GF with Jones most likely moving to the midfield and Marsh taking his place. I don't see how that constitutes it being much weaker

Finally Reid is being seen and talked about as a forward.
As I've said many times, "the backline experiment failed" I hope he isn't moved there at all.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

Stevic is an incompetent and/or biased $&@?, no doubt about that. His incompetence and/or bias has seen Hawthorn win two more premierships than they should have.

I'm not sure that he was to blame for the @@@@e umpiring in last years GF however. Matt Stevic, Simon Meredith and Scott Jeffery umpired the 2016 GF but I believe that Jeffery made the most errors. Is anyone able to clarify this?

They'd be stupid to roll the dice with anyone in round one.

only because the opposition had 21 "players" on the field at all times.
