If I am Ross Lyon, what incentive do I really have to win against Richmond?

Win and go up one slot on the ladder and go backwards in the draft potentially (dependent on next week). All he wants is for the team to not lose by 100 points again and then claim that "it was a good learning experience for his young team against a top quality side".

They are just playing for signs of improvement for next year.

We don't need Freo to beat Richmond, just the Saints to do it next weekend. Freo winning would be a huge bonus

My reading of the ladder is that we are now safe for at least one home final.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

Only the Top 2 teams have the possibility of playing 2 home finals (ignoring the situation playing teams from the state). So you could further reduce that statement to we are playing one and only one home final

Maximizing the number of neutral finals is the key.

I would rather finish fifth with the new finals system. One game in three weeks is not a good build up to a finals match. I think this was proven last year.

Not really. Finishing 4th and losing first final is better than finishing 5th and winning first final because u get to host 2nd week.

If we finish. 5th or 6th, we get a home final. if we win that, we get another home final do we not?
