That's coaching and player problem, reality is we aren't getting rid of half the list so we should look at the coach.

    Sure other teams have gotten flogged in big games but are two most embarrassing recent finals performances we were favourites so it wasn't a talent issue alone.

    The performances seem to be slipping further and further away.

    Can another coach get the best out of our final-phobic players like Rohan, Parker etc. I don't know but I think it's worth a try. Just making finals doesn't cut it. I'd happily take the dogs ladder position and trade it for last year's premiership.

    if Longmire stays, and let's face it he will, then we need at the minimum a complete coaching box clean out like Richmond. let's get in a match day tactical specialist and new voices for the players to hear, and let's start making clear that if you can't handle the Finals heat we will look for possibly less talented player who we know will bring us a 6 or 7 rated game rather than a player that can get a 9 but then a 0 in a final.

    Why did Sir Alex Ferguson buck the trend and be successful for so long, there are many reasons but one of the biggest is he took an increasingly hands off approach and rotated his staff so players didn't get bored or start cruising. We need to do the same. I think a couple of external appointments will do wonders, too often the strength of a unity in voices becomes a weakness when no-one counters the dominant opinion.

    Losing is fine provided you can see the effort and application. Did we see that last Friday?

    I know the boys were tired, the moon was pink, the ground was slippery, etc. In the end do we become a club of excuses or a club that does?
    Are you a journalist? You're obviously a master of fake news.

    To get back to reality:

    • Teams get clobbered in the Finals all the time;
    • The Swans have been a top side for a long time now. They are frequently "raging hot favourites" and they usually win. That's why it stands out like DBs on the rare occasions that they lose games they should've won;
    • The performances aren't slipping away: Swans won 15 out of their last 18 games;
    • The Swans definitely don't need to copy the Richmond model - the Tigers have won nothing, and when they do lose, they'll go back to eating their own;
    • And as for recruiting "possibly less talented players" just for the finals - are you David Koch?
    • Sir Alex Ferguson took a hands-off approach??? Which universe are you living in? Not this one, that's for sure.

    Not long enough obviously. Too many quick to sink boots in at first opportunity.

    Just throwing up some options. Not many around at the moment.

    May save Horse but I think if he stays we need to shake up the support team.

    I think dew might be gone, which is great for him, assistants need to change after a while to keep the ideas fresh from other teams. Steve Johnson... I'm not sure about him as coach until proven.
    Sumich has a great record, anyone for hawthorn would help us for 1.
    Someone who can make horse change and try a position or game style.
    Next year we will be facing a loose back every game.

    I'd like to look,back at our first 6 games and see if that's was what we struggled against.

    Only 25 years, do you have some magic number that entitles you to an opinion?

    I saw the list let me know if any of the losers were red hot favourites. If you can find two then you will start convincing me. Oh and for fairness it would need to be 2 with the same senior coaching panel.

    If you are going to criticize do your research and check how many time SAF changes his coaching staff to keep things fresh given he continued as the manager. This was so when he got involved it had real impact. You talk about it all being down to the players, funny I can't think of a time when a SAF team turned up and didn't compete in a big game. I doubt his players were any less tired at the end of the season.

    Please do point the last red hot favourite that got embarrassed in a finals game. In the regular season I agree it happens all the time but in finals it doesn't. Performances aren't slipping away, last year Grand Final this year a Semi Final. Unless I've missed something that's serious slip.

    I was saying pick consistent players who can given you exactly what you expect every single game. You would prefer Gary Rohan in Grand Final to say Puopolo, arguably a much less gifted player but brings it in the big games. I say again do you prefer a player who is going to pay 3 finals and maybe get a 8, 1 and 3 out of 10. Or would you prefer a player who will get a 7, 6, 8. I know which one i think brings more to the team over the finals series.

    I agree the tigers as yet haven't won anything, they may or may not, but how is their trajectory looks like it is on the up to me. PS We did win something 5 years ago. Since then we have won zilch.

    I ask again would you swap last year's premiership for the dog's ladder position this year? I would.

    Finally, I'm not talking about just a loss but 2 utter humiliations in a Grand Final and Semi Final when we were hot favourites for both games. If you can find recent finals examples please point them out, I can't think of one other game in which a raging hot favourite was humiliated (games lost by 63 and 59 points). These are the facts not fake news, using the hot new phrase doesn't change the reality.

    What was the common denominator for both games, exactly the same senior coaching panel.

    We won 15 out of 18, so what. Did I miss the part where they gave us a premiership for that.

    It's actually not the first time, I, albeit not here, actively sought change after 2014, you simply can't perform that way without consequences. That was the time to move on from Stuart Dew or John Blakey the other senior coaches.

    PS Might be nice if you played the argument not the man, I haven't criticised any individual for supporting the status quo, I may disagree but I wouldn't need to sink the gutter and play the man to try and give my argument some validity. It's a shame not everyone approaches it the same way and plays the argument.

    I think we should make a play for Luke Hodge as assistant coach.
    We need to be far more nimble on game day, and I'm hoping Hodge will bring some tactical nous. As far as I'm aware, we don't have anyone who has served an apprenticeship under Clarkson.
    Sure Hodge will want to coach the Hawks, but all new coaches should go to another team to learn their craft. Hodge learns how we do it and we learn how Clarko does it.

    Not a bad idea, but as I understand he has his eye on media career (shock horror) atm, as he doesn't want to move his family.

    But throw enough money his way, it may sway things.

    Didn't Stuey Dew come from Hawthorn?
