I expect form, match-ups and niggles are going to be the basis of selection. It's a good problem to have that we have lots of players vying for spots. The talks/short dilemma is likely to determine the result of the game. I'm nervous but hope/expect we'll provide the Crows' strongest test - and we'll come away with the win.

The Gallery on the Swans' website shows Newman training and is looking okay. He seems a good chance to play.

It does pose a dilemma with JPK coming back, because it's looking most likely that Towers will be the one dropped. It would seem tough after 14 consecutive games, but someone has to go out. Normally one might think that Hayward would be a chance to be dropped, but he's probably the first one picked.

Liz commented a week or 2 ago that Newman and Towers were structurally the least important players. I agree with that statement, even though I'm a big fan of Newman. If there's not a surprise due to some unknown injury, I would suspect JPK will replace one of those two.
Given that looks like being wet on the night we could go in with only 1 ruck (Sinclair most probably) . So Tippett potentially out for Kennedy.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

I think Tippett plays. Motivated to perform. We need his best work in September. Perfect game to boost confidence and play him into form.

    In: Kennedy
Out: Newman (I think he will be an important player in finals - won't be risked)

I know we like to speculate on who will be playing in the seniors by inspecting the colour of the tops the players wear at training. Well I just saw some footage and Allir was in red whereas the reserves players were wearing yellow. Could mean nothing and Longmire is playing with us!

It was already reported that Newman had scans on Saturday and did not have any structural damage from the hyperextension of his knee, so there's no precautionary requirement. He seemed to be running around okay at training. No way to know if he has any pain unless it gets reported. I think he offers more than any of the other possibilities to be dropped for Kennedy. It would be tough on whoever gets dropped at this stage of the season.
