I don't think the Jets will be going for Platinum group at this stage. We can barely string two teams together as it is.

Good on them - theyll have an uphill battle at first but theyre a well run club.

Other news is that Platinum Division is 7 teams - Bamain, Parra, Magic, Mac Uni, Power, SWS and Penrith.

Congrats Camden, Well done not going to make the same mistake as so many did with Manly and say "they wont win a game"

    All the best

Should anyone else be in the "Platinum" division?
What a stupid name by the way.

Teams like Wollondilly and Norwest would have opted to stay out of it and potentially fill the 8th in time.
Toughgig for Camden but good on em. Hopefully they ride the bumps of the first 2-3yrs. Unlike Manly & UTS they weren't banging down the door.

I would have thought that Randwick or Campbelltown would have filled that 8th spot

Big ask for a club with their Reserves team in Div 5 to make the jump right now - if you put them up against Div 3 sides theyd cop absolute hidings which would lead to players dropping out, forfeits etc. With a couple of years to develop some depth those clubs could make the jump.

As it is there will be some very lopsided games in the Platinum League - SWS have effectively been promoted in both grades and won a combined total of five games in 2017. Will be a tough couple of years while they find their feet.

We sat in the BISP stand for the finals, watching the Cats and knowing that they would probably be going up next year. And, wow, they were a long way off the pace !
Think of other PD teams with seasoned inter-staters (Shelby, O'Connell, Salter, Pollock) and other PD teams with loads of seasoned PD players, and it's going to be hard for the Cats to compete. And it's a long drive to Camden to watch a slaughter !

Yes, I wish them well and it sounds like they have solid infrastructure which is a key starting point. Let's hope they can recruit some solid footballers sooner rather than later.

    All the best Camden.

IMO many will be surprised how competitive Camden will be in Premier Division next season, primarily because of the difference between all of last years Div 1 teams and the Premier comp is not that large.
The nature of clubs with multiple teams means that there are often a group of 40 competing for a game is Prems, not the traditional 25 to 30 with the 10 making up numbers - in Sydney these last 10 are in the third of fourth team. I am sure Sydney Uni Div 1, St George Div 1, Mac Uni, Penno Div 1 and Magic would all be competitive in Prems, so Camden will be Ok. I dont think they will win a lot of games but dont expect them to loose by big margins.

The disparity in the new structure will be in the lower Divisions, what ever they will end up being called. There will be some big blowouts there!
