I hope you shot a few tigers when you were there?

    Oops, no tigers in Nairobi.

The comments section with the article is worth having a look at. Plenty of people admitting that they had been explaining their reactions away, by claiming that they were cutting onions, or that they had something in their eye.
Mum and Dad must be very proud. Great kids. Is it a coincidence that they were named Mark and Jarryd?

Yes, there were a couple of sentences that captured my attention, even more than the rest of the story. One was, "Midfielder Kieren Jack crouched down and told Mark and Jarryd that they had inspired all of the players and they were going to be a key part of the game". It's easy to imagine that being a very long lasting positive memory for the kids.
The other was, "Through wonderful moments on the field, we can live in the moment and share camaraderie with perfect strangers". Which more or less captures, the socialisation that makes sport relentlessly popular.

I loved that idea - very clever marketing. Considering no other team managed to make the finals after losing the first five games, it was also an accurate slogan. I was still using this as motivation to keep watching the second half of the Geelong game (especially as I did see quite a few leave).

The 'odds' got us in the end - although, rather ironically, we were favourites at the time.
