Thread: 2018 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel

That’s not true about Membrey. We let him go to the Saints in the pre-Season draft after delisting him as a favour.

I really doubt anyone is leaving unless it's Lloyd to a GC offer that is too good for him to refuse. Pre-season draft is not a threat used by clubs, all try to deal in good faith.

Membrey went for more playing time.

Amartey signs a one-year extension: Amartey stoked to sign - sydneyswans.com.au.

Good news. Strong mark, great second efforts/tackling; just needs to improve his kicking.

It was pointed out today on afl.com.au that the Swans now have former Bulldogs recruiting chief Simon Dalrymple at the club. He spent 11 seasons at the Bulldogs from 2007-2017.

I wondered if there were any Dogs we might go after via trade or free agency e.g. Libba, Wallis, Dahlhaus, Roughead etc?

As I said in the previous post we got nothing for him. That was the point that I was making! The Swans wanted to keep him but he asked to go for more opportunities elsewhere.

Interesting article tabling the demise of Hannebury.

Yes, you are right. We did get nothing for him, partly because the Saints had pick one in the PSD.

Damian Barrett stirring the pot about Hanners future with the Swans: Sliding Doors: round 17 - AFL.com.au

If: Rival clubs know one thing about Hannebery ...

Then: It is that he is contracted to the end of 2021. But some have already asked the question, and others will do so in the off-season. There's something strange going on here.

I think Dalrymple did a really good job at WB. They've made so many good picks in recent years, with plenty coming from lower in the draft. He could add a lot to an already impressive list management group.

I had this thought last week about swapping Hanners for Dahlhaus and picking up a high draft pick in the process. I like the swap as a straight up trade, so the draft pick would be a big bonus. Now how can we get GC to offer Hanners a 5yr contract at $4.5 mil plus the captaincy replacing Lynch. Maybe it would be too much for Hanners to resist. Of GC would have to be convinced that Hanners' form drop is temporary and he'd be back to his usual self next year.

Interesting that Damien Barrett has a bit of this in his Sliding Doors piece. I suspect he's an anonymous subscriber to the Poorly Disguised Pornography edition of Ludwig's Footy Journal.

If GC would offer us draft picks in return for Hanners, and take his entire salary off our hands, surely we would consider it?

If there is no lingering injury and it's completely form, and the deal was good, I'd say yes.
But I dare say there is more going on than we are aware of. Mitigating circumstances etc. Who knows.

Talk about lazy journalism. I'll tell you what's going on. He's playing with OP. He didn't want to have an operation because it would hinder our premiership chances. Barrett's inference is that he is unhappy and that's affecting his performance.
