All AFLX has taught me is that Rose and Foote are still rubbish.

    How true!

The idea of the GF game was to get the ball into Cunningham's hands, but his kicking was horrid.

Towers looks very sharp. I'll have to put him back into my best 22 calculations. O'Riordan looked good in first game and Fox was okay as well, except for the 2 cases of running too far. McCartin looks a winner.

Of the Cat B rookies, Jake Brown has a long way to go. Bell looks a chance. Small sample size.

As for AFLX, it might not be all that bad with a few rule tweaks and if the best players were on the ground. We have to take into consideration the proportion of bottom 20 players that played for most of the sides.

Personally I find Oriordan still tentative and doesnt move the ball well enough for Snrs. I think he would be a liability in Snrs. Stilted, poor execution under pressure

Harry Marsh is ahead of Col

Foote is still struggling with ball watching ie when he moves in for the ball he does check prior over his shoulders for defenders and still tends to run a straight line at the ball ie 7mins 20 seconds into the 1st game second half and got nailed by two defenders

The best players move in a slight arc shape when attacking a contested ball so they can see 360 degrees and truly know their options

Was encouraging to see Fox take the game on

Rampe , Robbo , towers, Cunningham and Hewett did it easy

McCartin is a goer for his age and height weight

More entertaining when the Swans are playing but still reckon it's so so at best.

Foote does not have the skill level to make it at AFL level, Rose is just ok, both will be 2018 delists. Bell looks likely but early days. McCartin has just turned 18, looks very promising, a draft steal methinks :-) O'Riordan will make the grade, just needs a chance, so few openings in the senior side. Fox looks ok as well, as did Buddy in the stand.

Rampe, Hewett, Newman and Towers! looked a cut above.

Good to see the new look coaching crew and the strong Swans fans turn out.

I might even watch a replay, just to pick up on the little things that you often miss first time around.

From what I saw you didn't miss much. Imo a waste of time, would rather watch intra club games or trial matches.

I thought young James Bell looked very composed. some of his kicking was super. that one along the boundary was a really good kick with absolutely no room. I know that because it was just below us. I think there was about a metre to squeeze the kick down the line. A bloody beauty it was.

Someone said Robbo was crap. I didn't think so. He didn't play much time, same with Rampe. Sir Dane is very good isn't he. Tend to forget just how good he is because he almost always just does it with no fuss.

Yeah, I said at the start that AFLW wouldn't work. And it won't.
I was always glad the Swans didn't get a team, and the optimist in me was hoping that the club would be sitting and watching and assessing before they committed, with the excuse of training facilities or whatever.

I think it will stick around, but it will definitely dwindle.
The AFL cannot sustain the pumping up they are giving the comp, and without that it will be hard to retain the following it has.

Don't know about AFLX, because, well, I didn't see any of it.
But I guess that is a statement in itself.
Sounds like it's doomed, but that's ok if it is.
I hope the AFL keeps on experimenting.

Maybe they should change the AFLW to the AFLX rules?
Maybe they need an AFLY or AFLZ?

The verdict is in about AFLX. Everyone hates it, so it's here to stay.

    2. We now have AFLW and AFLX. Maybe after AFLY and AFLZ that will be the end of it.

You know I get royalties if you use my material. I'll let it go this time, but do it again and you'll be hearing from my manager, a man who can ruin a day so bad you won't get over it until Harry Cunningham is out of contract.
