JLT1 vs Brisbane Sat 3 March

    Squad has been announced.

Stoddart is the only one of the newbies to earn a spot, though McCartin is named as an emergency. Of that fringe group just outside our best 22, Rose, Cunningham, Marsh and Fox get another chance to push for a round 22 spot, while Robinson and Foote find themselves as emergencies.

Reg, Hanners, Macca and Jones are the only first team regulars not available.

Whats the status with Dawson? Is he still on our list?

Sorry if its a dumb question - I was hibernating for the off season.

Not forgetting that Will Haywood is a notable absentee as distinct from Will Hayward who is on the half forward flank. Harry Marsh is also missing on the AFL report but is there on the Swans site.

Someone posted in the inter-club thread that a question about Dawson was asked at the AGM and the response from Longmire was that he was 5-6 weeks away (IIRC)

I hope Rohan at back pocket is a very short lived experiment.

It should be over by game time.

Add the 4 regulars who are out plus Dawson to the 26 named in the team and we have a pretty good 31 man squad going into the season. It should be sufficient to cover a 'normal' year of injuries, if there is such a thing.

Hayward and Florent are still several years away from being top notch players, but we have to keep giving them games to keep their development on track.

Robbie Fox is an interesting player with a real shot at becoming a regular. He's not flashy, but a good 2 way player. He has a basketball technique when guarding players. His hands are quick and he bumps just enough without fouling. And he's only behind Nic Newman in doing the Tom Derickx shuffle.

Just looked at the Giants/Collingwood lineups with passing interest. Sam Murray didn't make the squad even with all of their injuries. Collingwood preferred players like rookies Flynn Appleby and Brody Mihocek to Murray. I guess he hasn't made that big an impression so far. I don't think he's injured as he played in an intraclub match last week, saying Former Sydney defender Sam Murray showed dash and dare with his left-boot off half back

Kirk's presser today was instructive on three, indicating that: Jones should play next week; Grundy is back in the main training group; McVeigh has another calf injury and could play rd 1.

Longmire has previously intimated Hanners could miss rd 1.

Great to see Heeney back and Stoddart get another run.
