    2018 Crystal Ball......

I see the afl.com.au journo's/'experts' have had their say on their predictions for the coming season here:

    Crystal ball: AFL.com.au's 2018 predictions - AFL.com.au

I see their is not much love for our Swans. Just the way I like it, although it does also piss me off a bit. Out of the 16 'predictors', one had us finishing on top but not winning the flag, another (Travis King) had us finishing second and was the only one to have us winning the flag. A few had us middle top 8, some had us lower top 8 and even finishing ninth! Idiots!! Some seemed to have the brief of 'Don't mention the Swans at all'...... The majority favoured GWS and Adelaide for the flag. Unloved, we will again surprise everyone........

Should we have our own predictions thread?

    Why not?

Well, here goes! (and a bit briefer than afl.com.au's.) Your categories are: (my predictions in brackets with a few 'each ways')

    1. Premiers: (Swans)

    2. Runner Up: (GWS) ....just to piss off the City of Melbourne, my whole state and the AFL honcho's!

    3. Brownlow Medal: (If not JPK then maybe Danger)

    4. Coleman Medal: (If not Buddy, maybe Josh Kennedy)

    5. Norm Smith Medal: (Gary Rohan.....only joking! Luke Parker!)

    6. Rising Star: (Paddy Dow - Blues)

7: Bob Skilton Medal: (JPK or maybe Buddy)

8: If we make the GF, will Alex Johnson be playing in it?
    (No.....)

    Over to you.........

The only reason I can imagine for the Swans sliding down the ladder would be (1) the ruck situation, although there is a significant school of thought that the less ruckmen we play the better (2) Buddy losing his usual impact (3) Swans game plan becoming out-of-date.

I actually believe the ruck thing will be a positive and that our game plan is being majorly overhauled for the better. At some point Buddy will become mortal. Im hoping not yet.

Im expecting the mighty Swans to be more competitive in 2018.

I'm not a gambler, but keep an eye on the futures market for the premiership. No change in the odds any of the bookmakers are offering since the Naismith injury. Perhaps others know more about the process of lengthening or shortening odds: do they change this far out from the season, or are the markets set and stable until the football actually starts?

I hope when Buddy has his slide downward that its a gradual one. Id hate to see him lose it almost overnight as Tihge did. That was so sad.

it would be great and it might make the media show a little compassion towards the Swans, but I don't think AJ will make it

10: Biggest ladder-climbers for the year: Like Beerman says, the Blions

    11. Most talked-about topic on RWO: Will Ludwig be proven right ... ???
