We went to Henson today to watch Syd Uni v Baulko Eagles in Prems.
    A few things struck me:-

1.How lucky is Baulko to have Browning and Trent Stubbs. Browning seems to ruck all day, has a fantastic vertical leap and great skills around the ground too; he doesn't look much but he seems to be superbly fit and is rarely beaten in a ruck contest. Plaudits to SydUni who seemed to be able to square up the clearances despite the supply given to the Baulko mids.
And Stubbs is playing better than I've seen him play before. Marks and goals up forward then goes down back and marks down there too.

    2. Someone on here refers to Uni as "Sydney Uni NEAFL". I expected more than three marginal NEAFL players in the team today - Krochmal (x2) and Ayton (who may possibly be phasing himself out now). That's not a big NEAFL influence.
Other clubs have NEAFL-listed players (someone told me Penno has SEVEN !). North Shore has at least a couple, the UniBulldogs have at least one, Baulko has four ex-NEAFLs if I'm not mistaken (Browning, Emery and Vlatko (x2).

    3. Sydney Uni looks to me like they will go places this year - way better depth than the Baulko we saw today and they seem to play for each other.

Wasnt there today but early season, and a interesting season ahead I think

I would say Browning comment spot on and thank god he came to east coast ,Stubbs will get even better as the season goes and greats to see a junior stay with his club.

From my stories though is how p> poor is Sydney uni running a game day, Sydney afl have set this club as a benchmark and allow them to run games days as they please. This club should be setting the example not being where they are, they need to set a example and they are appalling most clubs would agree.

    Example today:

Rooms a disgrace, will Syd afl fine

Lights not working, will Syd afl fine

Clash strips not used when they can... they cant even have major sponsor on all gear .... what are they doing with funds? If I was that sponsor I would find another club. Happy to talk to them... for home away or clash strips. Syd afl didnt enforce head in sand.

Officials non existent.... never have been around

No results online, surely with so many with uni degrees and laptops getting scores is a simple thing to upload fast. ...

    Lift the game I say

Watched our first masters game yesterday afternoon. Decent crowd, lots of kids there kicking footys on the sideline.

Whats the go with waratah though, had like the under 8s posts 20m from the goal at one end.

5/6 wins for saints yesterday. Much better than last week.

Looking ahead I see that Penno and Wests both have games next weekend then play each other the following Wednesday !

Here we go again, and it's not even a wet weather catch up !

What you say might be right - a bit wierd without clash strips - but someone told me yesterday that the club is running 8 teams this year. It's hard enough to run ONE as a community club, but to run EIGHT and be reliant on uni personnel, it must be a nightmare. And the lack of a reliable home ground and club rooms wouldn't help.

I think they have paid staff so you'd reckon that they should be able to outperform a club run by volunteers.

bombers have 9 teams and no home ground, think that is more of a nightmare to run

North shore 9 teams split all over place and they can do with no paid resources and their temp home(S) are out west. Syd uni have to lift game its simple, they have paid resources too.

If also add in easts too they have a heap of teams and seem to do it better as well.

We're seeing it at a lot of clubs. The number of players and teams is rapidly expanding (which is a good thing); but the volunteer numbers aren't growing with it.
There wouldn't be a club that isn't struggling with that and are trying hard with what they have, knowing there will be gaps.
    That's life unfortunately.

Did anyone see the Manly vs Camden game?? Was an interesting result.... Can anyone give insight to what happened?

Are Manly a little bit better than we expected or did we just read to much in to Camden's win vs Wests?
