Thread: Current Injury Status

    Current Injury Status/Update

I thought that this thread already existed but can't find it. Giving our current injuries to our significant players I feel that it needs to be discussed and assessed.

As I have it the list is something like this:
    Mills Foot Season
    Naismith Knee Season
    Ling Toe Season
    McVeigh Collarbone 8-10 weeks.
    Jack Knee TBA
    Tom Papley Hip 1-2 weeks
    Gary Rohan Hamstring TBA
    Riley Stoddart Concussion Test
    Isaac Heeney Concussion Test

It looks like McVeigh is effectively gone for the season. He has been great this season. I hope the club don't consider him for next season; it's time to move on and give our youth a chance.

My feelings are the same in regards to Jack, however, he has another season on his contract (go figure). Jacks been poor for the the last couple of years.

In regards to our premiership chances for this season I feel that McVeigh and Mills are our biggest losses. Sinclair seems to b covering Naismith but if Sinclair gets injured we're screwed.

    McVeigh Collarbone 8-10 weeks.
    Jack Knee TBA
    Tom Papley Hip 1-2 weeks

Tom Harley on the Swans website has estimated McVeigh will be out for 6 weeks (had surgery today & plate inserted). He also hasn't ruled out Jack for next game against North (10 day break) having a grade 1 medial knee ligament strain.

I was hoping Papely would be available for next game.

Also heard Hannebery is out for 3 weeks with that calf injury.

Sizeable injury list now, but still have faith we can recover & hit finals in form.
Time to reward Dawson & O'Riordan who have shown form in the NEAFL.

I'm surprised that there are still people around who think he will be able to endure more than a few games without injury.
I called it when we traded White.

    Right now
    Hanners >>> Reid

Hanners was obviously carrying an injury, whether it was OP or whatever. When you are nursing an injury, your body over compensates in other areas, causing more injury.
No surprise he's now hurt his calf.

There is no scenario, where playing him benefits the swans or him. Poor list management.

Sydney Swans on Twitter: "Longmire on Reid: This is the other leg but the same operation in terms of his achillies."

He's great when he's on the park, but he's never on the park. Just one of those players, unfortunately.

See I never thought he was great when he was on the park.
At times he was very good, but most of the time he was just there, not much better than say McCartin is at the moment.
    Maybe that's just my interpretation...

Reid is sooo important to our structure
People who think that he has to touch the ball 5 + times a qtr or kick 3 goals a game
    are missing the point
At the moment we are robbing peter to pay Paul
Parker shouldn't be spending that much time forward

If Reid is there Buddy can roam
Parker can play in the middle
    Changes us completely as side

McCartin will be a gun but he doesn't have the experience of Reid
Nor does his opponent have to pay him the same respect

    Sad times

The issue is McCartin doesn't have the goals in him (yet) that Reid can provide - we are making up somewhat for that by playing him a fair way up the ground. He is doing a great job all things considered, but a fit Reid would have been a huge asset going into the last part of the season.

Sadly he is made of tissue paper it seems and just can't stay fit

Parker was playing forward in the absence of Heeney and Rohan, both of whom can play as marking targets. Hopefully at least one comes back this week
