Dawson is a Jack of all trades, master of none. I remember Harley saying he can play but they've not sure where to play him.

Mine would look something like this:

    Papley Franklin Haywood
    Ronke Reid Cunningham
    Lloyd Kennedy Jones
    Mills Aliir McVeigh
    Smith Melican Rampe
    Naismith Parker Heeney
    Sinclair Hewett Florent O'Riordan
    E: Grundy McCartin Jack, Stoddart

This is a pretty handy team that will only be stronger after the trade period.

    Assumptions:
    No injuries (obviously wishful thinking)
    Hanners and Rohan traded
Towers, Rose, Fox, Robinson, Newman delisted or traded
    Jack to play on
Solid 22; Ling, Dawson and Blakey also to be considered for senior footy I would think

Fingers crossed that we can get Vandenberg across. Highly rated by all my Demon's friends - plus at 188cm and 90kilos would be able to ease the load for Kennedy/Parker in the contests.

Agreed, his numbers were pretty good this year given his time out. He seems to have a pretty reliable intensity at the ball, which we need. Having said that, if he came, it would be due to unhappy personal circumstances, which would temper my excitement a bit.

Vandenberg played well in the game against us at the end of the year- he looks like a hard nut

A lot of talent, good football brain, just needs to be given a role and backed in to do it. Needs to spent time in the centre square.

I was bored so I thought I'd have a crack at our Round 1 team given our current information. This also assumes that everyone is fit.

    B: Aliir Melican Smith
    HB: Lloyd Rampe O'Riordan
    C: Florent Kennedy Clarke
    Foll: Sinclair Parker Hewitt
    HF: Heeney Franklin Hayward
    F: Ronke Reid Papley

    B: McVeigh Mills Cunningham Jones

NEAFL: Grundy, Jack, Dawson, McCartin, Stoddart, Ling

Reckon Naismith will be in our best 22. It'll be interesting to see what role Sinclair plays.

You are probably right but I'm not sure if he'll be there round 1. I am also unconvinced about Naismith. It's obvious that the club thinks very highly of him giving him 3 more years during an ACL reco but apart from being really tall I don't see it.

Naismith: excellent tap ruckman and haircuts that amuse many people.
