There's a good chance that there'll be a Womens Div 3 next year. There were 13 teams in Div 2 this year, and plenty of clubs have reported strong growth in womens numbers.
Heard the same with wollongong. The end plan is every club has a prems, reserves and 19s. A womens prems and womens reserves.

Going to be hard to kick mac uni out of womens prems though.

We have a womens side in 2019.

Big surprise with East Coast going up - were they contenders in the lower division last year? Magic and Wollongong appear to be the clear staff outs over 2 years.

    Any big uni neafl signings?
Auburn pulled out of the JV when informed that it wouldn't be approved in 2019 for Prem Division. Pretty dumb that an AFL staffer was messaging players from the Penrith team advising that Penrith were out and East Coast in...well prior to applications closing. Penrith's strong submission went straight to the shredding room. Despite the AFL congratulating the JV for "moderate success" ( in Prem Div, a team with less success in a lower division gets the nod (Ahead of Grand Finalists, Blacktown and Wollongong). Will be interesting to see the draw next year. Can imagine that East Coast will get the favours and play the bottom 2018 sides 3 times and the better teams twice Also confirmed that Wollongong pulling out of Womens in 2020 along with Newtown.

On another note, it is interesting to hear that Garry Burkinshaw (who I regard as easily the best administrator that Sydney AFL has had) is now running cricket in the central coast/hunter valley. The league has taken over the BDAFL. An interesting read on GB's final annual report (Yes, they still did annual reports in the BDAFL) pages 5-25 have some interesting reports. http://websites.sportstg.com/get_file.cgi?id=36574831.

Pull your head in ShortHalfHead. 'Pretty dumb' your argument about Woman's football is all about finishing positions in recent times. AFL Sydney doesn't work on elevation/relegation. The growth is large and pathways need to develop. Get on the right page. Most people couldn't Corless what you think.

People who have done as much as SHH at grass roots level are entitled to their opinion whether its right wrong or indifferent.

Are you prepared to remove ur sash and name urself? If not you should be embarrassed taking a stab at someone from behind with your comments.

Embarrassed for what Tara? Driving pathways and development?

Women’s football is a moving beast. SHH no doubt has some sour grapes and like a lot of people in Sydney football he works hard but he isn’t the only one.

On another note apparently SWS doing very well too and stepping up a lot according to a few. That is very good to see as it is a gap in that region so let’s hope Tara things keep moving in right direction for you.

Don is right pathways and development is good. Most clubs do it right just some better than others.

Record numbers down at Southern Power training last few weeks. Big turnaround for the club who were struggling a few years ago.

Thanks for your detailed insight and welcome to the forum, Don the Sash. I am sure you will be a positive and insightful contributor from here on in. Totally agree that the pathways require development, maybe Don has a more detailed outlook on how this is achievable. How do we develop the game that is fair an equitable to all community clubs and not via sweetheart agreements with those clubs in the top competition. It's easy to throw a few words together like "development" and "pathways" so hit us with your extensive plan. The AFL appears determined to, just like your namesake Don, to "Build a Wall" separating the outer West from the protected, highly favoured golden haired clubs. probably got some caps being made "Make Sydney AFL Great Again". Alone in Women's footy it is easy to identify the strategic positioning of the clubs. Sydney Uni, Newtown, UNSW, UTS, Wests make up five of the 8. Power, Mac Uni and now East Coast making up the remainder. In 2020 Newtown drop out, It was been proposed as a 10 team comp will be intoduced would guess that ECE neighbours, Penno, would get the nod along with North Shore. Manly in contention as well. A 15 year old Penrith player getting targetted by an AFL employee, advising as mentioned previously, that they had the spot, before applications received. Same one getting told she would get an exemption to play seniors, as the "messenger" clearly stated that as he works for the AFL and will get her approved. Her travel would involve about 300 kms a week to train and play. And great work, Don, on exposing me. Trouble is, most already knew who I am and I have never hidden it. Maybe need to work on that before you get into big school instead of checking out the designer labels attacked to the back of mum's skirt. So let's go in a full debate on the subject, check out your agenda and see if you have a strong case or otherwise. Up to you champ.

Glad to hear that. Good club with good people at the helm. Hopefully Balmain are 2 years behind them on a similar trajectory.
There's so much value in these community clubs. Shame the AFL only seem to care about Prem Div, like Sydney Football means something more than a social kick.

I think what Sydney AFL have done is put these clubs in a different structure so they aren’t competing with the large Premier Div clubs that they would always struggle to compete against. Gives them all a chance to achieve some on field success which creates a good environment to retain players and grow their club from within their local community.
