Thread: Past players - what are they up to?

I notice that Sanford Wheeler passed away in California this week, aged 50. I'm sure many remember him fondly.

There is an obituary for Sanford “Matthew” Wheeler in the SMH today. I remember him fondly from the early 90s. Very sad news, he was only 49.

Apparently the club is interested in Bud being involved in recruiting and talent identification.

He might be more productively used teaching players how to kick to the advantage of a leading forward. 1. He can kick superbly 2. He must be frustrated out of his brain by how bad Swans players are at doing this.

Very sad to hear this. My sincere thoughts to his family. I remember reading newspaper article at the time how Sanford would skateboard his way to training. Matthew Nicks would've been a teammate of Sanford, which added to his black arm band rememberance yesterday.

Nicks was drafted the same year Sanford was delisted, so they weren’t teammates. A mark of respect from a former player who has an affinity for his club perhaps?

Thanks goswannies, I should've doubled checked fact Matthew Nicks had just missed out being Sanford Wheeler's team mate. My timeline memory caught me out on this occasion. After re-reading my post above it may also give impression Matthew Nicks wore black armband (which wasn't my intention) as I have no idea if he did. Nice gesture if he did though, but apologies for my misleading wording.

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread since we all know what Gary is up to now - playing for Geelong - but anyway, some lovely news for the Rohans.

AFL on Twitter: "Congratulations to Gary and Amie Rohan on the safe arrival of Sadie 💗

So Mike is a "very serious" - I had no idea. Every time I saw him being interviewed, I felt in need of subtitles.
Loose translation from the Latin is - I am tall, so I hit out.
