With Grundy signing a 7yr x 1m contract, there's every chance the Pies might be in a cap squeeze to retain Moore particularly if he has another exceptional year (as most seem to do in their final year of contract). Expect a few clubs to have already started to sniff him out if that's the case. Not sure if we'd be in the hunt, as I agree it will largely depend if JD gets on the park and has a convincing season. Moore will cost us picks (assuming he's willingly to move to Sydney) versus JD who we can get as RFA. Plus you have the unknown whether a contracted Papley will again seek a trade back to Melbourne, which will change our hand considerably. A lot to play out with many possible scenarios.

I recall Kinnear mentioning during the draft a preference in retaining the young talented list we've been building over several years, rather than chasing a big fish (another indication JD had seeked us out to begin with).

    apologies
OP it should have been lol ...... was on my phone / fat fingers

Mate you could be right as there are a few that dont come back
odds are your wrong though given the huge amount of athletes that recover and manage OP for the rest of their careers
Yes Menzel brothers suffered similar ACL issues genetically as maybe the Danihers do re groin and or OP issues

Why dont you think Buddy is cooked with his ongoing groin OP injuries ? or JPK who has managed his groin OP ongoing

Your opinion is a guess with stats not on your side.......but you could still be right

I had OP myself......for 18months to 2 years.....didnt look like recovering well........result 95% recovery but it required daily yoga, daily specific stretching and boring as bat @@@@ muscle specific strengthening.........plus a brutal experience with Gary Miritis, a specialist for athletes with this injury.........he gets you a bite a bit.......you are in a padded room to reduce the noise from the screaming and then he knuckles your groin until you basically pass out.........this left both my quads and hammies and groin completely black with a release of all the scar tissue / old blood etc that was bound together trying to support the inflamed groin muscles / pubic bone etc

sounds kinky but in the waiting room was a few athletes that i recognised and he is the best in the business at making you cry with pain........absolute torture

I was playing and training for 20hrs per week prior to OP and within weeks of doing the session with Gary Miritis i was playing rep sports again

I underestimated how much management i had to do to function well........a

There are a stack of athletes that dont manage their injuries well enough prior to returning......they are not willing to put the effort in re boring stretching

if it takes 2hrs a day that is what it takes re stretching .......... i think Jo has been lazy from the multiple reports that were leaked out. Releasing other muscle groups and strengthening them specifically that support the region of the groin etc is paramount and sometimes takes way more then an athlete expects and or is willing to do

hopefully he has learnt his lesson and he is still on my radar for the right price just as he was for the Swans who took it seriously and were not put off by his injury

the reality is that if you can get thru 12 to 24months and he has done 18months now re recovery then you have a very good chance of returning to close to full output if not better

i also learnt i had to tackles and or exit with the ball in a few sports differently and use different technique which all these guys and girls are shown in their management going forward re groin / OP

I’ll tell you one professional athlete who never came back from his groin issues: Darcy Daniher, who you might also know as Joe’s older brother.

I think Joe’s cooked, and I think Dodoro had the chance to offload a lemon and drove too hard a bargain. I guess they only have him for one more year so nothing much to lose there. I’d love for Joe to come good but it ain’t looking good for him.

PS what is OT ? Is it similar to OP ?

What an extraordinary experience - I doff my hat!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I had the exact same thought when I saw on the news that Moore was out of contract next year. Definitely worth considering....

Yes it was so sad. I was watching on TV. I was so disappointed for the lad. He was a real talent and a lovely kid

Moore is possibly the best KPD in the AFL. he would cost a lot.

At least at the time we didn't know that was it for Jamie.
I was also at the SCG a year or so later I think, when he had "recovered" and they brought him out onto the ground for a farewell - I thought that was even sadder.
Loose translation from the Latin is - I am tall, so I hit out.

That is true, if you mean in terms of salary then I’m sure we in a better position than mast other clubs to offer him a big cheque. If it’s in terms of picks and players that’s another story but if we did want him I’m sure we could make it happen. A lot will depend on how we go as a team this year and how our KPD stocks perform.

I bet if you go to 16 other club sites they are saying the same thing. Just because Grundy gets a big contract doesn't mean Moore is moving. Why on earth would Collingwood even think of off loading him.

They won’t want to, but they have a tight salary cap ( supposedly even before Grundy signed on for 7 ) and have both Moore and DeGoey out of contract at season end. I can’t see them hanging onto both, unless one or both accepts big unders.

Or brown paper bags. They will keep them both if they want to.
