Thread: Jack Maibaum injures his ACL.

Terrible news for poor Jack. He's been very unlucky with injuries. I'm a fan of his and was hoping he would get plenty of time uninsured to prove himself.

Sad news as he looked fit in the Friday practice match against the Giants (Not the JLT game) I though he was most likely to the fringe / depth player for defence.

Has it been confirmed by the specialist yet? Or the replacement option is still a bit early..?

We've been linked with Jonathon (brother of Harrison) Marsh, as well as...

South Adelaide's Hayden McLean and another ex-Pie in Williamstown's Sam McLarty.
    Jonathon Marsh – Richmond VFL – 194cm – 24yo
Has put his hand up to return to the AFL after two seasons at East Fremantle in the WAFL. Preparing to play under his former Collingwood assistant Craig McRae at Punt Road this season.

    Hayden McLean - Sandringham - 197cm - 20yo
Trained with the Saints at the end of last season in the hope of winning a spot on the club's main list. Seen by many as the most unlucky key position player to miss out last November.

    Sam McLarty – Williamstown – 197cm– 20yo
Cut from the Pies after two seasons on the list in November. Started as a key defender before playing forward/ruck in the VFL. Now training as a defender at the Seagulls.

Hayden McLean trained with the club for a week or so during his academy placement - must have been just over two years ago now. So the club would know a bit about him. I think he was more of a forward back then but maybe he's transitioned to defence since joining the SANFL.

Jonathon Marsh is an interesting name. Hopefully his brother has nice things to say about the club and isn't too cut up that he was delisted at the end of last year. He (Jonathon) played some reasonable senior football for the Pies before surprisingly retiring. Assuming he's in the right mental space now, he could be a good addition. He has a bit of pace and size about him.

Marsh was probably the most interesting pick in the 2013 draft. He was touted by many as a top 10 pick, but was taken with pick 77. So there must have been some known issues at the time. I was actually quite keen on having us draft him.

Given the circumstances, it seems a perfect time to roll the dice on someone like Marsh, who has the talent to be a very good player.

McClean wouldn't be a bad choice either.

McLarty and McLean flying in on Friday for 'medical screenings'

Sydney makes 11th hour bid to fill final list spot - AFL.com.au

McLarty and McLean both played in forward/ruck roles in the VFL last year so it might be a case of one of them replacing Pink's spot forward in the NEAFL while Toby shifts to the backline.

Yes even with Jack down, I think we're light on for key forward/ruck type player rather than a key/marking defender like Marsh

Same here, but sometimes some players don't have the emotional maturity at 17/18 to cope with the AFL.

Marsh can play, but maybe clubs want to see him play a year in the VFL before risking it.

But it looks like we are going for Sam McLarty or Hayden McLean.

Could be wrong but isn't McLarty completely deaf?

Happy with either, as we do need a tallish lock down defender as AA is too loose and Rampe is better a rebounding.
