Sydney set to secure McLean - sydneyswans.com.au

The Sydney Swans will lodge paperwork with the AFL to secure South Adelaide forward Hayden McLean as a rookie for the 2019 AFL season.

McLean joins the club under the pre-season supplementary list rules replacing injured defender Jack Maibaum (ACL).

He transferred to South Adelaide this season but didn't manage to kick a ball in anger before we poached him!

McLean will join us a week before the season proper begins. Does anyone have an informed view of how SANFL pre-season training would compare to AFL pre-season training? That is, how AFL-fit would his body be?

I know we don’t expect McLean to be playing seniors footy, nevertheless being ready to do so if needed would be good.

I'm stoked for Hayden and hope he takes this opportunity with both hands. Who knows? He may even get a contract extension with a solid year in the seconds.
