There is more of a gulf between teams in prems at the moment than there has been for a fair while and points systems will probably not address that, probably only squeeze out players from clubs, with the lower clubs having to go and get 7 point players if possible to be able to compete.

As has been said before, probably will only strengthen the ressies comp, with the cap meaning that the stronger clubs will need to rotate some of their players through ressies or rest them, good luck UNSW getting the likes of Pfeiffer,Aish,Towers, Jack etc under cap when it is 42pts or less.
Wise one what a strategy, getting experienced players to teach the kids coming through not only on the field but off it, only to have the AFL cap the points so they cannot teach on the field. Seems to go against the development of the code in Sydney.

Who is going to argue that these players are not good for the game?

Now that is funny. I like your sense of humour!
You guys go and buy yourself a premiership and the rest of us are meant to believe it is for the good of the game!
    Comic genius!

The only thing I actually like about this forum is that it shows up the lack of knowledge and intelligence about footy in Sydney of keyboard warriors like you andreww1 with your rubbish response.

Interesting to learn from non related contacts, that AFL Canberra has a points system with vastly different interpretations and grading that have been determined and a salary cap into the bargain.
Bet that will tick a few more KPI’s for the performance reviews!

Whilst I enjoy a poke from time to time, thoughts on the academy drafting over the last 5 years.

Or is this the recruitment strategy of our local Neafl club.

    😉

Old puppy..... welcome aboard. Seems you have some wise intelligence on facts on what is going on and sharing it will be valuable.

This thread I put out there for the premier division clubs, mainly for themen but it also is women’s too.

Is it really needed in Sydney

You rightly point out is is a KPI?

seems like it is more of a determination as well on clubs.

Main concern on this system is lack of consultation and more a dictation, who is it protecting ?

There is serious flaws on it, why implement such a soft system?

Looking on first few rounds clubs which have higher points are.... surprise surprise .... UTS no 19s, wests no 19s and Syd uni a neafl program.

Exception cats new to comp but not at level of the above 3.

Then you highlight. Pennno lowest of mob and well done. Soon we will if they start winning work a way to penalise them???? Surely not.

Other perceived stronger clubs bombers and eagles well under but have a junior program

Easts whilst on higher end still are not at level of non complying clubs and he neafl program club.

Its a flawed system which should of been consulted with key stake holders of all clubs playing in the division.

Soft cap for 2019 will be interesting what is determined for 2020. It’s clear there is no consultation with clubs as there is a clear imbalance already even with a soft cap.

The soft cap is in to protect the weaknesses of two clubs no junior program and one with a neafl program which has rules in place which allow for players to stay and be in their own system with support from the league, yet clubs like penno and a few others well under cop the determination from the league on how there is a manipulation of the top tier competition of Sydney Afl.

The women’s comp is amazing as this with AFLW and vflw impacting a lot of clubs. Also too how a AFLW is graded as they play in two comps.

This competition seems very transient and noting how the league deducts and promotes points without consideration of player loses can stymy a club with players in its regions through no fault of its own.

Facts in the women’s system are different but relevant too, if you win a flag but lose 10 players for example should you lose points for next season.... maintain a same or similar team maybe a argument but a early blanket rule minus a list being set is wrong

This will follow to prems men’s and it will be a debacle.

Great comeback Old Puppy. Attack the person rather than address the issue. You will fit in well on this forum.

Is it wrong for SydneyAFL to want clubs to develop juniors or is it a legitimate strategy to buy everyone's good players, go into @@@@ loads of debt and plunge down through the leagues after winning a flag (Balmain and Campbelltown, plus ECE if Sydney AFL didn't give them 400k)?

Maybe it isn't the best for equalisation but surely it's better for sustainability.

    Great theory....

39 points versus 22 points today.

Pennant hills is a 22 point team amazing and nothing but a massive compliment to them how they have and do achieve that.

As usual saviour “people in glass houses” you may have some juniors but your club is more than happy to get others out of regions, there are plenty of other clubs in your region and others who know full well you guys are more than happy to have a player well outside come to you.

This is a system which needs a lot more work and consultation with all clubs

If any of you think the AFL get it wrong or right or whatever watch #AFL360, and we debate this without consultation.

Seems like a lot of clubs had no real consultation on this process, doesnt seem like a good way to run a business model when not engaging the participants properly.
