A thoughtful piece by Martin Flanagan on Adam's, and others', influence:

    The limits of sport's influence
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I'm really glad the 2015 season is over. Horrible year for footy. Adelaide game was a bright spot (thanks again Ktigers) but was only there because of the horror in the background.

Still irks that he wasn't and isn't allowed to bow out as the champion of our football club

It's very good news Adam has found a life partner . May it be forever .

That is spectacular. All the entries are here:

Competition looks pretty fierce, high standard this year but the Goodes is by far the best in my unbiased estimation

Yes, I also thought the Goodes portrait was the clear standout. But I may also be biased?

Great players have walked away from the sport for lesser reasons than Goodes has.

I wouldnt blame him for leaving AFL footy behind.

Lockett. Ian Stewart. I suspect many of the greats have got all they need to from the game.

I just hope Goodsey doesn't leave the Swans behind. He's family.

Above all, we as Swannies know that Goodsey has immense character. We believed in him. He believed in us.

He is a lovely man all round, I enjoyed his company when I could snaffle a few moments. He is never going to be an AFL coach, he has other things to do, which are important. I look forward to following his path in life which he will go about with grace and dignity

Hey everyone... you can buy a print of Adnate's masterpiece here...

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Kev Carmody sings a song Cannot Buy My Soul, there is a line in it that I relate to Goodsey.

"If a person speaks out critically here, you can get loaded down with lead"

You may take his life and liberty friend but you cannot buy his soul
