Wow, 4 defenders out, and not one normal defender in.

    Emg: Melican, Stoddart, Thurlow, McInerney
On the Swans App, our defence is listed as:

    Florent, McCartin, Lloyd

    Clarke, Mills, Aliir.

Yikes! They're obviously sick of Melican's indifferent form.....good to see Menzel given another chance, Rose too and Ollie was a given if fit. Has Jack been lighting up the two's? Probably in for experience.....

Ummmm. Is it possible to lose so heavily that you also lose competition points? That could be one way to get Rowell or Anderson?

I just can't see how we can control Cameron, Himmelberg and Finlayson with Aliir, Mills and McCartain. Let's hope the boys can channel the spirit of swans KPD of the past.......

Certainly could lose a heap of percentage ..... and drop below Carlton assuming they lose to West Coast. (Otherwise we will drop below them anyway.)

Three sets of ball and chain? Oh dear, this could get ugly.

And I cannot see us winning the stoppages or hitouts without playing a ruck. Look away as I do not expect this to be pretty. Not on the Knoll train but what else do we have.

Plus two proper ruckman versus our makeshift one. This could turn into one almighty pay back for the thrashings we dished out in GWS's early days.

I guess we’re tanking for Rowell then?

His recklessness more than anything was Melican's undoing. He'd been improving until last week. I don't think Longmire was impressed by the way he lost control of the situation and gave away 3 frees.

Under the circumstances, there could be some meaning in dropping Melican, yet not selecting Thurlow. I haven't been impressed with Thurlow in NEAFL and don't think he deserved to be included. But for Longmire to leave him out when we are so short of key defenders could well mean that a decision to cut him has been taken.

As posted earlier, I was really impressed with Rose's NEAFL performance last week and glad to see he gets another shot. I hope he doesn't let us down with a weak effort. If he just plays at AFL level as he does at Neafl level, he has more than enough talent to make it as an AFL player. It would be a great boost to the Swans if we could have a borderline player persist and ultimately find success.
