Sorry forgot about them, most probably reflects how much impact they had!

To be fair, Squiz was ok in attack, not sure how much defensive pressure he provided though. Perhaps this side of his game will improve with improved conditioning?

I was excited about Gray. Had seen him play some good ones for Port but for us, just looked a bit lost and struggled to get involved. If we could, I would axe him.

Any update on ET? Surely we have found a way to get out of his contract.

Too often it's just been Paps supplying that pressure with a bit of assistance from a non specialist mid or one of the mediums who lack that explosive footspeed that comes from a true small forward.

Ronke in part has been a victim of his early success and at times I think judged unfairly. I felt his games this year we're much improved, in particular his forward pressure and also his delivery from half forward. I hope we keep him.
Agree about Ronke. I made similar remarks as well. I thought he was a good candidate for trade. I think we could have gotten something for him, so don't think he would be delisted now, but rookie listing is not out of the question.

I feel we can produce good forward pressure next year. Even our key forwards, Buddy and Reid, apply good pressure for KPFs. Heeney applies pressure well and Hayward is much improved in this regard. I think as unit, it should be okay.

The Swans are transitioning from a defensive to a forward half team; at least that's what we're trying to do. I'm worried about lingering effects from injuries to Buddy, Heeney. Hewett and Ronke. We need to keep our better players fit next year to make the ladder improvement we hope for, else it could be another development year.

Regardless of the sentence, he pleaded guilty to a violent crime. I think that should be enough to get sacked. He's a 2 time offender in his first year. We usually don't tolerate far less than that kind of off field behaviour. Violence against women is especially over the limit of what should be acceptible.

I'm guessing the AFL will have a big say in whether or not he gets deregistered. Would we be required to pay out his contract if we delist him? Maybe if the AFL deregisters him we won't be required to pay him out. Who knows?

    RE: ET

I feel confident we can terminate his contract and de-list him if we want to, regardless of what happens when he is sentenced. If we do that, I wouldn't think we would have to pay him out anything but possibly we would do so just to avoid legal proceedings and protracting the matter. I don't think we would have to include his salary in our cap if we terminate and delist him - although possibly that will depend on whether we do that after list numbers for 2021 have been finalised. I think the next court date is fortunately happening just before the ND. Hopefully he will be sentenced and the matter finalised on that date. Then, hopefully, we will make a call about what we are doing about ET before the ND and definitely before our 2021 list is finalised. I don't think it's out of the question that we will keep him. That decision could be taken out of our hands if he is sentenced to gaol and maybe that's why we're delaying our decision.

Hawthorn were rated 8/10 and 6.5/10 for last 2 years in the trade period by this Media MOB. And look where they are.
I doubt that the trade strategy can be looked at so early. There is a lot of water that needs to go under the bridge.
I think we have done well with Hickey in and Aliir out.
For getting points, we needed to offload someone and there were only a handful of players with currency that we could lose. So it is fine losing one from the area of the ground that we are OK. Hickey and Points in return is nice strategy. If our squad is healthy we should atleast go up by 3-4 positions this year.

Small forwards - Braeden and Errol will fit in nicely.

After his Covid breach, an argument put forward was that everyone deserves a second chance and we had an obligation to help him become a better man. I can understand this argument but don't agree with it, especially as he really should've known better. In the process of being stupid, he cost our soft cap 50k, letting down the whole club and its supporters.

Being found guilty of violence towards his partner is inexcusable and grossly illegal. His rehabilitation (and punishment) is no longer our responsibility - it's now over to the judicial system.
