We really should go after Preuss now that Melbourne have recruited Luke Jackson

I heard Matt Rendell say the other day when doing his draft anaylsis, that Gulden is the best left foot kick he's ever seen for his age.

I think he was speaking of Campbell. Draft Central has Campbell at pick 6 in their latest release of draft rankings.

Preuss is reportedly happy to pick up his pay cheque to simply play in the VFL. I don't think he is our answer.

With Ling, i say we might as well keep him for another year.

His contract is up at the end of this year, but we have sunk so much already, one more year won't hurt.

And considering the other useless sods like Thurlow we have on our list, lets give the kid a go.

Rampe is getting old, he is already 30, we need to find a replacement for him!

No vfl this year. Preuss contract is up end of this year so if he doesn’t really want to play I doubt Melbourne renews it. If he does want to play then he will need to look elsewhere

Does anyone know what the list will be next year? The last I'd heard was 35 plus a single category B rookie.
If that's the case even if we simple delisted every single one of our rookies, we will still have to cut 5 from the senior list to make minimum room for 3 more draftees.
And the number of delistings increases with every rookie upgrade.

Anyone at this stage feel able to nominate?
    1) Which rookies to upgrade
    2) which players to cut.

FWIW with the latter question, I can't get past Thurlow and Gray (age) and (I hate saying it) Sam

I can see arguments for and against for pretty much everyone else, and the situation with the 2's won't help.

Keep Naismith. Cut Thurlow, Gray, Squizzy, Fox, Clarke, Ronke,Bell - None of these blokes will be in our next premiership team.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

I believe Gray got a three year contract so could be expensive paying him and other contracted players out as well as the unknown salary cap issues. All speculation at present.

Jeez it's a tough one this far out, but I'll have a crack at the delisting players who are out of contract

Thurlow, Knoll, Fox, and Foot I think are all goners.
Ronke, Bell, Maibaum, Ling, and Clarke are probably in the group labelled "need to make the most of their chances if they get them this year", otherwise I could see them being cut/re-rookied.

Knoll is a bit harsh but he didn't do much in the NEAFL last year did he? I'd rather we go for a fringe ruck somewhere else with a bit of hunger. If Preuss is happy just to pick up a paycheck then we should avoid him, but if he wants to prove himself at AFL level, he'd be my target.
