I'm sure they love the special treatment. It's popular on the global stage.

Gotta give the league some credit though. They got the ribbons colours (teal and white) on the premiership cup Rams v Power correct.
Was still a bit controversial that Penrith (3rd) had to wear a clash jersey against 4th placed Power.

Congratulations to the premiers of the other competitions in a trying season.
Glad we can now focus on the premier ranked competitions for the next 2 weeks as it’s been very quite for a few days so let me start with a couple thought provocation to get all you keyboard warriors going:
    1) for the platinum competition clubs would be good opportunity to come watch the reserve grade standard for those who think a promotion and relegation system should be implemented.
    2) assuming you are interested and would like a ticket albeit limited, that would be the first step of any club with ambitions to climb the so called pecking order.
    3) how can a promotion and relegation system be in place when the difference between under 19 D1 and D 2 is wider than the length Flemington race that stops the nation.
    4) how many clubs have volunteers and sponsors to actually compete or facilities for that matter.
    5) Afl Sydney have delivered Zero facilities over the last 5 years, whilst ticking their growth KPI haven’t addressed the major issue.
    6) Where has all the money Gone??
    7) 2020 actually shows the GAP between top and bottom clubs at premier level, forget NEAFL, has only underpinned the Gap!
    8) where is the leadership?
    9) the AFL Sydney affiliation and umpiring fees are the highest in state and interstate why?
    10) when you finally attract football talent to NSW and Serious historical football talent, the powers to be decide there is no role or jobs to suit so they offer roles interstate rather than keeping them in biggest growth market in country.

There is some serious talent without jobs living in NSW at present, but AFL just want YES persons rather than all of us on this forum bagging each other successful or not, why don’t we all bandy together as clubs and say enough is enough!

It’s time Afl and Sydney operations are held accountable for there management decisions or ongoing Yes Sir, we will do that rhetoric!

BTW - there are way more than 10 additional topics but just hoping for a balanced view from everyone’s keyboards 🤔

The whole AFL Sydney/Canberra competition needs a massive restructure and there is no better time than now.

Why would any Platinum club want to be promoted to Prems? Take Penrith and Power as examples. In Platinum they get to win one or two premierships most years, they are always competitive which ensures they are able to keep their players and supporters happy, and they are able to establish a nice community based niche within their localities.
But if they go up to Prems then they face years of flogging by the bigger clubs (look at the margins this year) which only makes players not want to keep playing. To be anywhere near competitive they need to raise big buckets of money which means increased rego fees for players and volunteers working tirelessly hitting up sponsors and continual fundraising activities which is not much fun for anyone.
If I was at a Platinum club the last thing I would want is to be promoted to Prems.
And if Sydney AFL aren’t careful and don’t find a way to equalise the comp then there will be Prems clubs asking to go back to Platinum.
    Fire at will.

Actually agree with you unfortunately the AFL set up Platinisation specifically to allow aspirational club to develop in Platinum so if their is no aspiration then there is no need.
I expect the top platinum clubs would fit in and be competitive at Div 1 level at best and bring it on.

Hard luck today to the straight-sets Bombers.

Third year in a row out in straight sets, something very wrong there.

Classy as ever Uni. Supporters leaning over the fence hurling abuse at north shore players as they walked back into the sheds. Pretty sure SydneyAFL representatives had to ask them to stop. Embarrassing.

To their players on the field, congratulations on a well deserved win.

It was one bloke who went over the top and was told to move on. Maybe you’d have preferred it if we streamed the game and had a couple of ‘commentators’ abuse the players for two hours.

Anyway, it was a sour note to end what was another classic final. We have been spoiled this season - hopefully next Saturday is just as good. Judging by the game two weeks ago it will be another cliffhanger.

There's not as much wrong there as you might think.
Our prems side has improved every year since 2016 and we're a lot better now than we were back then, but the top of the competition has improved every year too.
Our depth has also improved every year and will improve again next year, but the reality is that we don't have the same depth yet as SU or UNSW.
We haven't had the funds to buy in top end players to help our group develop and we haven't had a NEAFL program to help us either. In fact the NEAFL program has cost us a couple of very good players.
Across finals we lost Manteit, Wilson, Parks and Smith and didn't have Rory Barkley, Jack Campbell or Drum for various reasons. They're not average prems players and while all sides lose players towards the end of the season, compared to SU and UNSW we haven't built enough depth yet to cover for the loss of that many top players.
It's that simple and it's why this happens in finals against the top teams.
The boys who played on the weekend had a crack, but got beaten by a better side on the day. That's how it goes and congratulations to next weeks grand finalists.
To the people at the AFL who think we're trying to build a super club and to the abusive peanut gallery from Sydney Uni, we're just trying to build our club the best way we can without some the of the advantages that other clubs have enjoyed (as are Penno, ECE, St George, etc etc). It's very difficult to do and takes a long time, but we are getting there and the win will be very sweet when it does come.
In the meantime, we've to 2 gf's this weekend against 2 very good UNSW teams. So definitely no guarantees there, but as the boys did yesterday, I'm sure those sides will have a crack.

Decided to bring up one moment, but the constant use of the C word to players on the field and taunting a Bombers player who played in the Div1 grand final who wasn't even there show a larger picture about the Uni mob more than just the one bloke carrying on after the game I previously alluded to.

Again a great game to watch, that fourth quarter was a classic.
