    Vale BOB HAMMOND

Sad to see the passing of Bob Hammond last night to Parkinson’s Disease. 8 game coach for us in 1984 taking over from caretaker coach Tony Franklin.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Mr Hammond a little while ago and he reflected fondly of his time at the Swans. Had it not been for his Independant supermarket business commitments, he may have stayed in longer.

He arrived at a turbulent period for the club, and united playing group that could have easily fractured. He left his mark on the club.

My condolences to the Hammond family.

+1 If I recall correctly, Bob coached us in our 1984 night Grand Final loss to Essendon at VFL Park, which was run midseason on Tuesday nights back then. I remember attending that game & being soundly beaten. We were going for our 2nd night flag in 3 seasons (winning it in 1982).
